Do Devourer of Nation First

Despite being last in the quest order, it is recommended to face this dragon first instead of last. You will receive the Cardinal Dragon Robe upon completion of this quest and this item will be very useful when tackling the Devourer of Flames.

The Devourer of Nation also has the most straightforward fighting style so it is a good way to ease into the flow of dragon slaying.

Character Explanation
Metaphor ReFantazio- Protagonist IconProtagonist The Protagonist should take up the Prince Archetype and inherit the following skills Arcane Unity from the Wizard and Almighty Boost from Tycoon. He will be in charge of dealing consistent Almighty damage to the dragon.
Metaphor ReFantazio- Hulkenberg IconHulkenberg Hulkenberg will be using the Royal Knight Archetype and inherit Matarukaja from the General and Formation of Vigor from the Commander. Her main job will be to tank most of the damage and occasionally provide buffs for the party. This is very important since focusing the damage on her will raise the chances of Omni-Counter repelling attacks, raising the possibility of the Dragon losing turn icons.
Metaphor ReFantazio- Junah IconJunah Junah will be taking up the Royal Masked Dancer Archetype with the Saviour's Mask. It is also recommended that she inherit Vidyartha and Debilitate from the Trickster. Using Junah will take a bit of balancing since she'll be in charge of a lot of Support for the party but her main job will be to debuff and inflict weakness on the enemy.
Metaphor ReFantazio- Eupha IconEupha Eupha will be using the Royal Summoner Archetype and inherit Vitalja, Tetrabreak, and Heat Riser from the Seeker line. She will mostly be in charge of giving buffs to the party and dealing damage once Junah manages to inflict a weakness on the enemy.

The Devourer of Nation prefers physical attacks and because of this, the tank will be one of the most important roles in this battle. Right off the bat, have the Royal Knight do Holy Knight's Proclamation, as this will direct most of the attacks to Archetype.

With the Dragon having multiple turn icons, it is recommended to have it focus on one person instead to ensure survivability.

The Royal Masked Dancer and Royal Summoner will be working in tandem to support the party with buffs and debuffs. When given the chance inflict a weakness on the enemy and deal magic damage when you can.

The Prince will be in charge of dealing most of the damage with Almighty attacks.

How to Beat Devourer of Nations

Let the Tanker Take the Damage

Metaphor ReFantazio - Devourer of Nations - Tip 1
The Devourer of Nation prefers to do physical attacks, not only that but its Dragon Shriek adds another 6 turn icons giving him a lot of chances to do damage.

It is highly recommended to have the Royal Knight mastered in order to have access to all its skills and passives. Mainly its Omni-Counter and Noble Knight's Soul. Omni-Counter especially would have a higher chance of activating since the dragon will focus fire on her and will in turn help in making the dragon lose turn icons as well, sometimes immediately ending its turn.

Keep Your Health Up

Metaphor ReFantazio - Devourer of Nations - tip 2
The Dragon tends to hit hard, so be sure to stock up on recovery items and use healing skills when possible. While the Dragon does have a tendency to deal physical damage, it does occasionally use party-wide magic attacks.

Do Not Use Fire

Metaphor ReFantazio - Devourer of Nations - Tip 3
Whatever you do, do not use Fire Skills and make sure to remove any accessory that repels magic damage! The Dragon can repel fire attacks so attacking with this element is a quick way to get your party member killed.

Unless you've inflicted a one-time weakness on the Dragon try and avoid this type of magic if you can.

Use Support Skills Every Round

Metaphor ReFantazio - Devourer of Nations - Tip 4
Try and use Support Skills every round if you can. The Dragon will prioritize removing buffs and debuffs. So not only does it help improve your battle but it'll have a second function of making him use up his turn icons as well.

Just use the accessory that ends the enemies turn when you dodge their attack on the ninja and lower his accuracy with the ninja skill and you almost always end his turn in 1 - 2 attacks

Except Makarakarn gets stripped away by the Reset All move. So really Formation of Vigor is needed to tank any Ice and Fire spam that isn't directed at Hulkenberg's proclamation.
