What Are Gold Beetles Used For?

Exchange for Rewards in Brilehaven

Gold Beetle Rewards and Requirements

You can exchange the Gold Beetles you have collected by talking to the Elderly Entemophile found at the Arenafront Wharf in Brilehaven.

The Elderly Entemophile will provide rewards based on the total count of Beetles you have exchanged. The more Beetles you collect and trade in, the better the rewards you will receive.

You can find the Elderly Entemophile hanging around at the Arenafront Wharf, there will be a Beetle icon on top of his head.

3 Gold Beetles Are Missable

Northern Border Fort	How to Get: Approach the glowing spot behind the tree. Miss Condition: Player cannot return to this area after quest.
Port Brilehaven, Seabreeze Street	How to Get: Complete the Dental Distress quest. Miss Condition: Missable if player does not complete quest in time.
Ancient Eldan Sanctum, Plaza of Light	How to Get: Found next to a broken down house. Miss Condition: Player cannot return to this area after quest.

While there are a total of 50 Gold Beetles in the game, the final reward, and the Trophy Achievement are both awarded after obtaining 46 Gold Beetles.

The three missable Golden Beetles are all found in Story Areas that you cannot return to after you finish them.

Collecting 46 Gold Beetles out of the total of 50 allows you to trade for all the items that the Old Man in Port Brilehaven offers, and gives you the All That Glitters Trophy in the process.

Three out of the 50 Gold Beetles are missable, but missing them does not negatively affect your chances of getting all the equipment or the Trophy Achievement.

Carries Over to New Game Plus

Although not mentioned, your Gold Beetle count will carry over to the New Game Plus in case you missed any in your first playthrough. Since they're part of your inventory, you get to keep all the items you collected, including the Gold Beetles.
