Raise Imagination to Rank 2

Before starting this quest, you'll need to raise your Imagination to Rank 2 first. You can do this by doing activities that increase Imagination, such as talking to the Chatty Elder in Grand Trad or by reading the New World Travel Diary in the Gauntlet Runner.

Talk to the Pompous Man

Once you have Imagination 2 and experienced the cutscene where Grius' Dagger gets stolen, you'll be able to initiate the quest by talking to Cuculus, the Pompous Man.

He'll ask you to retrieve the Malveno's Ring from the Abandoned Tomb in exchange for getting the dagger back.

Leave for the Abandoned Tomb

When you're ready, head out to the Abandoned Tomb. From Martira, it will take two days to get there so make sure to spend your time wisely by increasing your Royal Virtues.

Before you do anything, equip one of your party members with an Archetype that has Electric Skills in preparation for an upcoming fight.

Defeat Demo Man Goddard

On the way there, you'll be thrown into an unavoidable fight with Demo Man Goddard. Exploit his Electric weakness to quickly take him down before he reduces your Hit/Evasion and starts exploiting your own weaknesses.

After the fight ends, you'll have a few more time period to do whatever you want before you get to the tomb.

Clear the Abandoned Tomb

When you get to the Abandoned Tomb, you'll want to clear the dungeon and unlock all the treasure chests. The chest you'll need to unlock for this quest is marked as number 15, but it's behind a locked wall so you might as well get everything inside this dungeon first.

Defeat Trove Imitec to Get the Key

To get the key you need to unlock the wall, you'll need to defeat Trove Imitec. You'll know when you're about to face this boss when you see a massive chest right after a Plateau Mirage.

Like every other treasure chest enemy here, bring a Merchant with you so that you can force it to waste turns picking up money!

Report Back to the Cuculus

Once you've got the ring, head back to Martira and talk to Cuculus to complete this quest. Besides the regular rewards, you also learn that his real name is Alonzo, and he becomes one of your Followers, unlocking the Faker Archetype!
