Optional Bosses are boss fights you can encounter through side quests or while traveling in the Gauntlet Runner on certain days. You can do these in your free time, as completing them can also raise your Royal Virtues.

Exploit Enemy Weakness

Enemies encountered during your progression can have elemental weaknesses that can be exploited in battle. Make sure your party is equipped with the necessary Skills so they can better take advantage of enemy weaknesses.

Battle System Explained

Utilize Synthesis Skills

Synthesis Skills have beefier attacks and buffs that could turn the tides of battle, so make sure to use them to gain the advantage during a boss fight.

Do note that while Synthesis Skills are strong, the use of a single skill can take up to three of your party's turn count. Make sure to use them wisely!

Switch Party to Access More Skills

You can also use the Switch Party feature once you have more than four party members unlocked. This feature becomes available after Junah joins the party, and you can freely switch a party member in battle to access more skills.

Make sure to also raise your bond ranks with party members so they can gain EXP even when switched out!

Use Retry Battle Feature

If you're having a tough time with these battles, you can use the first few turns to analyze each boss to understand their behavior and learn their skill set. You can then use the Retry Battle feature to start over with this new knowledge and adjust your strategy against the boss.

Bosses Explained

Stronger and Tougher Enemies to Defeat

Bosses are relatively stronger, tankier, and tougher than the enemies you encounter during your progression in Metaphor:Refantazio.

They possess a substantial amount of HP in battle, as well as access to a variety of attacks that can heavily damage your party or inflict status ailments to your members.

It is recommended to bring Items that can heal and buff your party in order to outlast bosses in battle, as well as possessing the right Archetypes or Inherited Skills to deal with boss weaknesses.
