If you want to get the true ending in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you just need to defeat the final boss of the game. Read on for what you can do to get the True Ending, which quests can affect it, and what to do afterwards.

True Ending Requirements

Defeat the Final Boss at the Tyrant's Star

If you want to get the true ending, all you need to do is defeat the final boss. As long as you don't pick any options that could lead you to the bad ending during the story events, you will automatically progress towards the true ending, so there is nothing special you need to do.

There are three total three bad endings in Metaphor, if you make any of the choices listed above during the story, you will get a bad ending and get a game over.

Note that if you get a game over, you will be sent back to the title screen and have to start over your last save.

If you clear the Trial of the Dragons Quest Line during your adventure, Neuras will have a few lines of text acknowledging that at the ending.

What To Do After the True Ending

Start a New Game Plus Save File

After completing the game for the first time, you will unlock New Game+, allowing you to replay the game with your Money, MAG, Items, Equipment, Archetype Progression (except for Grius), and Royal Virtues intact. Your play time is also preserved in the new save.

You can also unlock a secret boss as long as you don't start the game in Story Teller Mode! Do note however, that Quest Progression will not carry over, meaning you'll need to replay all quests from the beginning in New Game+.

Load Your Last Save and Get All Optional Collectibles

If you don't have the time, you can just load up a more recent save and try to get as much done as you can during the last stretch of the game. You can go and collect the Masks and Vessels you never got or just collect all the Gold Beetles.
