You can not go up the rocky paths in Ghost of Yotei, they are meant to speed up downhill traversal. Find out what rocky paths are and how to use rocky paths here!

You Can Not Go Up Rocky Paths

Rocky Paths can not be used to travel up. By design, it was made to get players down from high ground faster. Attempting to walk up will only cause Atsu to slip and slide back down.

Look around and try to find the right way up, keep an eye out for white marked ledges and cliff sides for climbable surfaces of red cloth for graple points,

Speed Up Downhill Traversal

The main purpose of rocky paths is to speed up the way down hills or mountains. Once you get on the path, you will quickly start sliding down until you reach the bottom or fall off the mountain.

Used as a Platforming Mechanic

Rocky paths also serve as a platforming mechanic often found when climbing mountains. As a platforming mechanic, you will need to make a careful assessment of the path before jumping in.

More often than not, there will be a quick time grapple or jump that you'll need to make before you fall off the mountain.
