Perfect DodgePerfect Dodge Perfect ParryPerfect Parry Shifting StrikeShifting Strike

This build promotes survivability and balance and also helps you learn the ropes of Perfect Parrying and Perfect Dodging attacks because one of the armor's perk is to improve parry and dodge window. All of the pieces of this build can be obtained as soon as you finish the prologue, letting you be strong before you even go to the next region to gather the rest of your weapons.

The only downside of this build is the constant need to switch weapons to take advantage of the armor because of weapon alignment making you pay more attention to the enemies weapons. However, this can be mitigated by learning Shifting Strike so that each weapon switch unleashes a fast heavy attack on an enemy, eliminating the short but crucial downtime when switching weapons.

Early Game Weapons and Armor Loadout

Armor of the Undying

GOY - The Undying Samurai Fight
You can obtain the Armor of the Undying by completing the Undying Samurai Tale, which starts at a small camp near Nakagoya Spring, north of Ishikari Plain.

The armor's perk allows you to play more offensively while still offering solid healing, making it one of the best early game armors.

How to Get the Armor Of The Undying

Try to Obtain All Weapons as Early as Possible

Clue System
The Armor of the Undying shines more if you have all the weapons readily available on you. Weapon unlocks are tied to Sensei Tales and you do not need to progress the main story or revenge tale for you to get it.

Improved OnryoImproved Onryo's Will Dance of WrathDance of Wrath Improved Ghost StanceImproved Ghost Stance

This build is all about using Quickfire Weapons for clearing out hordes of enemies to charge the Improved Ghost Stance or stagger a single enemy to dish out huge damage with Oni Flame and Dance of Wrath. Some of the pieces from the early game build are still the same while the others can be obtained and be fully upgraded right after starting Chapter 2.

The only significant downside of this build is sacrificing survivability. You are more prone to damage and can only rely on parrying or dodging to heal. However, getting the Improved Onryo's Will skill eliminates the need to heal in the middle of battle, making revive a better solution for survivability.

Late Game Weapons and Armor Loadout

Bounty Master Armor

Soma the Condemned Fight
You can obtain the Bounty Master by completing the Soma the Condemned Bounty. The armor's perk demands you to sacrifice survivability as it disables regular parries in exchange for dealing three hits if you perform a perfect parry.

This allows you to kill a total of three enemies, charging the Ghost Stance faster or strike three times to a boss after a parry and the strikes counts as unblockable and the enemies can't block or parry it.

How to Parry Attacks

Equip Dual Katanas as Your Primary Weapon

For this build, we recommend using the Dual Katanas as often as possible, as they deal low damage but hit fast and can combo well with quickfire weapons. This lets you strike an enemy relentlessly without the risk of getting hit as long as you have the ammunition for it.

How to Get the Dual Katanas

Get All Quickfire Weapons Fully Upgraded

How to Change Quickfire Weapons.png
This build is centered around getting the full potential of quickfire weapons. You want them all fully upgraded to increase the maximum capacity, particularly the Oni Flame.

Ghost of Yotei Charm of Fiery RageCharm of Fiery Rage Effect: Increased duration of Oni's Flame by a moderate amount.
How to Get: Win two games of Zeni Hajiki with the NPC found at Benten Inn

This is the backbone of this build where we enhance the Oni Flame as much as possible to make it unblockable, has longer duration and deal more damage.

How to Get: Found in the Faithful Leap Shrine
Ghost of Yotei Charm of Mount YoteiCharm of Mount Yotei Effect: Reduce all damage taken by a minor amount
How to Get: Finish the puzzle of the Reliquary of Courage by turning all 4 nearby statues towards Mount Yotei itself.
Ghost of Yotei Charm of MasakadoCharm of Masakado Effect: Onryo's Will revives you at full health.
How to Get: Found in the Amber Respite Shrine

In this build, you do not use your spirit to heal and instead only relies on perfect parrying or Onryo's Will to heal yourself. As it turns out, if you have visited all the Hot Springs, it is much more efficient to use Onryo's Will to fully heal yourself instead of using the healing technique since both ways costs the same two spirit orbs.

Another advantage of using Onryo's Will is the brief period of time where enemies will back away and not attack you which gives you space and time to think.
