Initiate Standoffs Often

Initiate Standoffs

Initiate Standoffs to kill enemies instantly and lower the number of threats. Equipping certain gear will increase the number of enemies you can eliminate during Standoffs.

Do be careful, however, for failing to win a Standoff will take off a huge chunk of your health. In higher difficulties, failing a Standoff can kill you instantly.

Switch Gear to Match Your Play Style

Swap Weapons

Switch between weapons gear to suit your fighting style. For instance, weapons like the kusarigama and the spear can suit you if you like taking on large crowds.

Throw Fallen Weapons

Utilize Fallen Weapons

Some defeated enemies will drop their weapons and open them up for use. Stand next to a fallen weapon and pick up it and throw it at an enemy.

This causes significant DMG and can even one-shot an enemy.

Opt for Defense Instead of Offense

Opt for Defense

Remember that your opponents can dodge, block, and parry too. Continuously attacking them can enable them to do any one of those and knock you off-balance.

Stay your blade and wait for an incoming attack. Once you spot one, dodge or parry to make the attacker lose their balance, follow up with your own attacks, and fill up their stagger meter.

Stagger Enemies As Much As You Can

Stagger Enemies

An enemy, whether it be a boss or an ordinary thug, will have a stagger meter above their health gauge. Fill this up to render your opponent stunned and unable to move.

Additionally, staggered opponents will take significantly more damage than usual. You can stagger enemies by various means such as parrying, using Quickfire tools, and using certain weapons.

Utilize Your Ranged Weapons and Quickfire Tools

Quickfire Weapons

When in battle, do remember that you possess more weapons than just melee ones. When in doubt, do not hesitate to use your Quickfire tools or aim and fire at your opponents!

Learn Enemy Prompts and Attack Cues

Pay Attention to Glints

Pay attention to the colored glint that will flash before an enemy's attack hits.

A red glint is an unblockable and unparryable attack that must be dodged or jumped over. A blue glint attack can be parried, but cannot be blocked.

Adjust Your Controls if Needed

Adjust Controls

Should you find yourself puzzled over the changes in controls or you simply find the control mapping confusing, try fiddling with the settings and customizing your own control mapping!
