To get the Tanzutsu in Ghost of Yotei, you must complete Guns and Consequences quest. See a guide on how to get the Tanzutsu, its upgrades, and additional information about the weapon!

To obtain the Tanzutsu, you must first begin the Saito Brothers questline by speaking with NPCs or interrogating enemies in the open world. Once you’ve gathered information about the Saito Brothers, the next step is to meet Master Yoshida in the Tokachi Range to learn how to use the Odachi as part of the questline.
Saito Brothers Quest Walkthrough

After obtaining the Odachi, return to your home to trigger a meeting with Jubei and Oyuki. You will need to ride to Oshima Coast after this cutscene.
This part of the questline is only available after you have completed The Oni, The Saito, and The Kitsune storylines.

| 3.1 | ![]() Find Matchlock Murata in his workshop, located northwest of Karatsu River. He will be wounded inside. To help him, retrieve the sake from the table in front of him and the ramrod from beside the fire. After a cutscene, follow him outside to learn the location of his attacker, Unosuke. |
| 3.2 | ![]() Ride to the farm north of Tokuyama Hills and eliminate all enemies. A cutscene will trigger where you confront Unosuke, which includes a tutorial on how to use the Tanzutsu. |
| 3.3 | ![]() Return to Matchlock Murata at his workshop after dealing with Unosuke. As a reward, he will let you keep the Tanzutsu. |
Completing this quest permanently unlocks the Tanzutsu, adding it to your arsenal of ranged weapons.

The Tanzutsu is a small firearm best used for situations you need to quickly deal a burst of damage without much trouble. However, you will need to reload after firing once!
