How to Unlock Wolf Companion

Progress the Story and Participate if Wolf Related Activities

GOY - Progress the Story
Initially, the wolf will come in and out of Atsu's presence. There is no specific schedule to this, and it is mostly RNG. To increase the wolf's presence, you will need to improve your relationship with it. Discover Wolf Dens and rescue wolves to deepen your bond, allowing you to unlock its specific skill tree and strengthen the wolf.

Learn the Song of the Wolf

GOY - Song of the Wolf
Learn to play the Song of the Wolf to summon your ally. Playing the song on the Samishen will call the wolf to you, letting the wolf join you in battle for a period of time.

The Wolf Companion is an ally that sometimes joins Atsu on her adventures in Ezo. At a certain point in the main story, you will be introduced to a mysterious wolf that follows you around, and at a certain point, it will join you in battle.

The Wolf Will Follow Your Moves

GOY - Wolf Will Follow You
When the Wolf joins you in battle or when raiding a camp, it will match your approach. If you opt for a stealthy approach, you can see the wolf doing the same, letting you finish battles more efficiently.

Make Your Wolf Stronger by Improving Techniques

Technique Description
Wolf Strike Icon Wolf Strike When the wolf is nearby, she will perform a follow-up attack on enemies struck by thrown weapons or Sake jars.
Wolf Wolf's Vengeance After appearing, the wolf will stay and fight your opponents.
Wolf Assassination Icon Wolf Assassination If you Assassinate or Critical Strike an enemy when the wolf is nearby, she will Assassinate 1 additional foe.
Wolf Wolf's Ferocity The wolf inflicts massively increased Stagger damage.
Wolf Wolf's Might Wolf abilities immediately kill Brutes and Leaders.
Wolf Wolf's Wrath Wolf kills earn Spirit and have a chance to Terrify enemies.
Wolf Rescue Icon Wolf Rescue When you are downed in combat, the wolf will occasionally appear and attempt to rescue you from death.
Wolf Howl Icon Wolf Howl When using Onryo's Howl, the wolf may join you and attack another enemy.
Wolf Standoff Icon Wolf Standoff When you engage in a Standoff, the wolf may join you and face off against another enemy.
Wolf Strike Summon Icon Wolf Strike Summon Striking enemies with a thrown weapon or Sake jar has a chance of summoning the wolf for a follow-up attack.

Rescue Wolves to Improve Your Relationship

GOY Rescue Wolves
After meeting the wolf, you can stumble upon Wolf Dens that are scattered all over Ezo. From there, a wolf will lead you to enemy camps where you will need to rescue wolves in cages. Rescuing wolves will reward you with points to improve your Wolf Companion skill.
