For your first few skill points, invest in your base Onryo Skills to improve your manuevarability and survivability. Focus first on Attack techniques to improve your base offense, followed by Survival, Assassination, and lastly Range.

Best Onryo Attack Skills and Techniques

Technique Description
Perfect Parry Icon Perfect Parry Parry an attack at the last second to slow time and perform a counterattack. Earns a moderate amount of Spirit.
Disarm Counter Icon Disarm Counter Focus Attacks will Disarm enemies performing a yellow glint attack. Earns Spirit on successful disarm.
Onryo Onryo's Strike Instantly strike and Disarm an enemy. Has a chance to Terrify enemies and make them flee.

These techniques will give you the best maneuverability during combat. Having these skills also boosts your chances of dealing large damage when retaliating against attacks.

Best Onryo Survival Skills and Techniques

Technique Description
Roll Icon Roll Roll away from attackers, evade slow red glint attacks, and extinguish Fire.
Safe Fall Icon Safe Fall Roll just before landing to avoid damage. Does not work when falling from lethal heights.
Perfect Dodge Icon Perfect Dodge Time your Dodge at the last second before an enemy's attack lands to slow time and perform a deadly counterattack.
Onryo Onryo's Will Draw on your inner rage to revive yourself when downed.

These skills are the best to get to increase your survivability in the game. Roll and Perfect Dodge are great ways to escape enemy attacks with Onryo's Will, allowing you a second chance before you fall in battle. Safe Fall, on the other hand, provides extra security while exploring.

Killer Killer's Instinct Enemies show a flashing aura if their death will alert nearby enemies.
Brute Assassination Icon Brute Assassination Assassinate large Brute enemies.
Swift Assassination Icon Swift Assassination Assassinations are moderately faster and quieter.
Chain Assassination Icon Chain Assassination Assassinate two nearby enemies in quick succession.

Strength of Lightning Icon Strength of Lightning Increase Stagger damage against Swords such as Katana and Odachi.

These techniques let you deal greater damage against enemies while interrupting their attacks, and causing them to Stagger.

Best Dual Katana Skills and Techniques

Technique Description
Relentless Flurry Icon Relentless Flurry Continue a Dual Katana Focus Attack combo after Dashing. Requires fewer attacks to perform Tempest Strike after a successful Parry or Dash.
Deflecting Strikes Icon Deflecting Strikes Dual Katana Heavy Attacks automatically Parry Polearm attacks.

Quickening Tides Icon Quickening Tides Reduces the time to fully charge Typhoon Kick by a major amount.

These techniques maximize on the Yari's ability to interrupt attacks and create distance with enemies.

Best Odachi Skills and Techniques

Technique Description
Unstoppable Strikes Icon Unstoppable Strikes While attacking with the Odachi, take less damage and become Unstoppable. Unstoppable attacks cannot be interrupted.
Bulwark Stance Icon Bulwark Stance A defensive stance for the Odachi that blocks all standard attacks.
Mountain Breaker Icon Mountain Breaker Devastating attack that inflicts massive Stagger damage and knocks down enemies Staggered by the attack.
