How to Defeat Bears Banner

Bears can be defeated by two quick shots to the head with a bow, or by using a Scorch bomb to massively reduce its health in Ghost of Yotei. You can also use Takezo's Dual Slash to take it down quickly through melee. Here is a full guide on what to do during a bear attack!

Shoot at the Head with a Yumi Bow

Use the Bow against a Bear

You may purchase the Yumi bow from Ran the Bowyer from any of her stalls or at Atsu's camp for 2,000 coins. Further upgrading the bow can increase its damage, as well as equipping Mother's Charm to boost any ranged damage you make.

Use Concentration to Line Your Shots

To make aiming easier, you can use Concentration to slow down time to take the bear down faster. You can activate it by pressing the Left Analog Stick.

Use Scorchbombs Against the Bears

You can use a Scorch bomb against a bear to massively reduce its health, to kill it with a few strikes with a melee weapon, or to take it down with just one shot with the bow.

Though it costs Spirits to execute, special melee techniques such as the Takezo Dual Slash can quickly whittle down the health of any bear. Prepare the

Use Your Horse to Create Distance

The main problem with the bear is that no matter where your sprint or roll, it's only a matter of time before it hits you hard with its paws. To counter this, quickly call your horse with the Left D-Pad, and create distance between you and the bear.

Charge Your Horse at the Bear

Alternatively, you can also use your Horse Charge skill against the bear to stun it momentarily, to be able to hit it without worrying. You can get the Horse Charge skill during the Oni Questline.
