1. Liberate Snow Drift Springs Hideout
Snow Drift Springs Hideout is located west of Crimson Forest. Once near the area, you need to solve a puzzle to gain access to the hideout. After getting in the hideout, eliminate all enemies in the area and free all the prisoners. Doing all these tasks will complete the first out of three parts of this tale.

2. Liberate Soya Port and Free the Weaponsmith
Soya Port is located northeast of Sarufutsu River. Once near the area, eliminate all the enemies and free the prisoner. He will tell you about what he knows of the Nine Tails that conquered the port and this completes the second part of this tale.

3. Learn a Kusarigama Skill
After liberating Soya Port, be sure to use its Altar of Reflection to learn any Kusarigama skill which completes the third and final part of this tale.
