Despite looking like a size-able map, you are technically only allowed to explore 6 regions in the entire island. While this seems like a downgrade from the size of the map in the previous game, it could potentially mean a DLC to explore the east side of Ezo.

Altars of Reflection are hidden sites across that map that allow a moment of peace and reflection for Atsu to learn new techniques.
All Altar of Reflection Locations

Yotei Six Camps are territories directly under control of the Yotei Six. Liberate these camps to gain exp and increase your legend as the Onryo.

Bamboo Strike locations are hidden locations where Atsu can visit and hone her skills with the blade. These locations will help strengthen and improve her resolve after completing the challenge of cutting through all .

Hot Springs are also hidden gems in the land of Ezo where Atsu can relax and reflect on her goals to strengthen and increase her maximum health.

Shrine Climbs, much like the Shinto Shrines from the previous game, are climbing challenges meant to test Atsu's traversal skills with the Grappling Hook.

Pillars of the Fallen are hidden gems scattered throughout Ezo that reward you with Vanity Gear.

Some areas in Ezo hold a dear memory for Atsu. When you are a near a familiar memory, hold the touchpad to relive those memories. Play it out completely to complete the location.

Lord Saito has begun calling for hunters and the extermination of the wolves in Ezo. Complete Wolf Dens by following the scent of the hunters and shutting down their hunting camps to increase your wolf bond.
All Wolf Den Locations

Fox Dens are home to foxes, regarded as the messengers of Inari. Follow them to the location of an Inari Shrine, pay your respects to increase Charm powers.

While exploring Ezo, Atsu can visit a certain spot to pay her respects to the environment. Visit these Special Places to interact with the nature of the land.

Dueling Trees shelter disciples of Takezo that are scattered all over Ezo, awaiting their master or any challenger. Battle these Ronins for new charms and a new technique.

Closed-Off Buildings are Nine Tail structures that can only be opened by solving each of their puzzle. Bountiful rewards and an Altar of Reflection await inside.

Nine Tails Hideouts are puzzle-ridden compounds containing Yotei Six Camps and Altars of Reflection. These do not normally present themselves as Yotei Six Camps until you have entered the hideout.
