Zenless Zone Zero Shoulder to Shoulder Guide

Shoulder to Shoulder is a mechanic in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) where you can follow up with a character's attack during the previous character's attack animation. Learn how to do a Shoulder to Shoulder attack and details about this mechanic here!

How to Do a Shoulder to Shoulder Attack

Switch Characters During Attack Animations

How to Do a Shoulder to Shoulder
Step 1: Initiate an Attack with one Agent.
Step 2: Immediately switch to a different Agent.
Step 3: Execute any attack during the previous Agent's attack animation.

To do a Shoulder to Shoulder attack, you must first do an attack with one Agent, then swap to another Agent and do any attack while the previous Agent's attack animation is still ongoing.

To pull this off, you'll need a character whose attack animation is long enough to fit the next character's attack, and a character whose attack animation is quick enough to fit into the previous character's attack.

Use Characters with Long Attack Animations

Character Attack
Miyabi Miyabi Basic Attack: Shimotsuki
• Super long attack animation, enough to fit a different Agent's attacks.
Ultimate: Lingering Snow
• Has an attack animation even longer that Basic Attack: Shimotsuki. Can fit about 2 EX Special Attacks if next Agent is quick enough.
Evelyn Evelyn Chain Attack: Lunalux - Snare
• Attack animation is long enough to fit a quick attack from another Agent, especially if done by consuming Burning Tether points.
Burnice Burnice Ultimate: Glorious Inferno
• Initiates a Quick Assist, allowing the next Agent to immediately follow up with their own attacks.
Basic Attack: Mixed Flame Blend
• Hold down Burnice's Basic Attack to have her spin and initiate a mini-explosion. The animation should be long enough to fit another character's attack, especially if they enter in via Quick Assist.
Vivian Vivian Basic Attack: Fluttering Frock - Suspension
• When Vivian enters the Fluttering Frock state via her EX Special Attack, switch to a different character to have her automatically plunge into enemies with this attack. The attack animation is long enough to fit the next Agent's attacks.
Pan Yinhu Pan Yinhu EX Special Attack: Mountainous Pulse Strike
• After this attack, Pan Yinhu stays on the field to consume 3 points of Break Force to keep attacking the enemy. This is long enough for your next Agent, who can enter in via Quick Assist that this skill activates, to quickly follow up with an attack..

These are just a few examples of characters with attack animations that are long enough to fit another character's attacks. Pull it off during an actual battle and it can make for an epic Wipeout screen.

Try getting to know your characters' kits better and test them out in VR Training to see which characters synergize well enough to form a Shoulder to Shoulder attack.
