Miasma is a new mechanic in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) that can cause damage to your characters regardless of whether they're shielded. Learn what Miasma is, how Miasma works, and how to prevent Miasmic corruption here!
List of Contents

Miasma causes miasmic corruption, which immediately chips away a chunk of your Agents' HP proportionate to their current HP percentage. Miasma accumulates whenever a miasmic enemy hits you.
The red meter at the bottom of your screen determines the accumulation of Miasma you've taken. Should it reach full capacity, your entire party will lose HP.

Whenever an enemy, particularly Elites and Bosses, puts up a Miasmic Shield, they will also put up a Miasmic Field. Being within this field will cause your characters to receive additional DMG.
However, this will also cause your Dodge Counters, Defensive Assists, and Ultimates to have twice as much effectiveness against the enemy's Miasmic Shield!

Regardless of whether you have a shield up, getting hit with a miasmic attack will add to the Miasma meter. Additionally, regardless of a character's stats, Miasma will take away a fixed amount of HP proportionate to that character's current HP.
This means that the higher your characters' HP, the more DMG they will take from the corruption. It's best to just outright Dodge or use Perfect Assists against it.

When enemies put up a miasmic shield, it will replace their Daze Meter. Until the shield is dispelled, enemies with a miasmic shield cannot be stunned.

Successfully dispelling an enemy's miasmic shield will cause Purify DMG to it. Purifying an enemy will also inflict an extreme amount of Daze to it, and restore your entire party's Energy and Adrenaline.
In most cases, dispelling an enemy's miasmic shield will also render it vulnerable for a short period of time, allowing you to follow up with your own attacks!

When exploring a Hollow, there will be areas filled with Miasmic Fog. When in this fog, your characters will slowly accumulate Miasma.
Act fast and find a purifier, or get out of the Miasmic Fog to negate the Miasma's accumulation!

The enemies above cause Miasma accumulation if their attacks hit you. Study their attack patterns, watch out for attack cues, and either Dodge or Parry accordingly!

Since the only way to void Miasma is to not get hit, relying heavily on Dodge Counters and Perfect Assists is key to conquering a battle against miasmic opponents.
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for gold or red attack cues and react accordingly!
Perfect Dodge and Dodge Counters Guide
| Equipment | Stats and Effects |
|---|---|
|
|
Base Stat: 40 Adv. Stat: 6% Effect: When a squad member's HP is greater than or equal to 50%, they take 7.5% less DMG, and 10% less Miasma Contamination. Only one instance of this effect can exist in the same squad. |
To reinforce your defenses against Miasma, equip W-Engines or any gear that can reduce the accumulation of Miasma.
As of Version 2.0, only Reel Projector is the W-Engine that can help defend against miasmic corruption.

When exploring a Hollow, there will be Miasma Purifiers present that can immediately alleviate any accumulated Miasma you may have. Fissure Beacons do the same thing in addition to fully restoring your party's HP.
Make it a point to find Miasma Purifiers and note their locations for when you need them. When push comes to shove, teleport to any Fissure Beacon for an immediate cure!
