To aid in your battle against Valcynimus, here are some tips that you can utilize in your fight.
Valclynimus is particularly weak to Light-based attacks. Party members such as Rinwell have several Light-based Artes that can be cast from long range against the boss. Mixing these Astral Artes when the boss is out of reach with regular attacks and Martial Artes while it's on the ground is recommended to ensure you maintain a high damage output.
Alphen's ability to perform his Boost Attack can easily down Valclynimus, allowing you to hit the weak point on its head. Breaking its Weak Point will take a while, but being able to strike at it each time it's downed allows you to land multiple Critical Hits.
Valclynimus' primary means of attack, its Jump, is difficult to avoid since the boss takes up most of the arena. You can attempt to perfect dodge or move away, but your AI party members may not be so lucky. Expect to receive plenty of damage from this attack.
To avoid using too much CP, you should bring along recovery items to avoid making use of recovery Artes that will drain your CP, especially since you will need CP during the later portions of Rena.

Even if your party is over-leveled to around level 60, Valclynimus' attacks can still deal heavy damage. Since this boss' attacks are Dark-based, you can equip or transfer Elemental Defense skills to your accessories – this reduces the amount of damage you receive from any of Valclynimus' attacks, allowing you to focus more on offense rather than defense. This will also cut the amount of CP used in battle significantly.

Rinwell is one of three members in your party that has access to Light-based Artes. Use Rinwell's long distance casting to safely deal elemental damage from afar while your melee attackers are can get in close to attack the weak spot when Valclynimus is downed.

Apart from his Boost Attacks, Alphen also possesses melee ranged Light-based Artes which are very effective against this boss. However, being in melee range means Alphen will need to defend against Valclynimus' attacks by performing Perfect Dodges whenever it jumps, which is the attack Alphen will be most vulnerable to.

So long as you keep up with the Recommended Level, Shionne will be able to freely mix in her own attacks along with being the party's primary healer. Try to keep her at a safe distance from the boss, and disable any of her Dark-based Artes in the Artes List to ensure she doesn't cast artes that Valclynimus is resistant to when Shionne is being AI-controlled.

Similar to Alphen, you can allow Law to freely perform whatever melee attack he wants against Valclynimus. It is worth allowing Law to go to low HP, as this will help trigger his Overlimit, allowing him to perform his Mystic Arte. After his Overlimit has activated, heal him up immediately to ensure he can live long enough to use his Mystic Arte.
The boss' main attack is a jump, leaping up and dropping down, sending out a Dark shockwave at the base of its legs. This attack can be difficult to avoid due to the boss' size, however performing a perfect dodge or perfect guard will nullify any damage to the player controlled character.
When the boss enters its Over Limit mode, it will begin to stomp its legs, with Dark energy twisting up its legs. These attacks deal considerable damage but are quite easy to avoid due to the wide spacing in-between the legs. You can choose to either attack the hanging appendage it has beneath it while it does this, but it is recommended that you hang back and allow it to finish its Over Limit mode, since it will take reduced damage in this state.
Another common attack, it will use the limbs hanging from its main body to thrust and swipe at you. These are rather easy to avoid – you can actually allow your party members to distract it, allowing the creature to focus its hand attacks against them while your own player-controlled character can circle around to its back for easy attacks.
Its final attack during its Over Limit mode, it will send a beam and a whirling pool of Dark energy towards whichever character you are controlling. This attack is easy to dodge, as Valclynimus never moves its beam to track you, nor does the whirlpool of energy follow you.
