Since you're able to remap your controls in a way that gives you a better play experience, it's best to do that right away, and change any controls that feel off to you. Going with default controls shouldn't give you any difficulty for the most part, so we generally recommend just playing with them as is.
Artes are powerful skills that characters can learn and perform against enemies during combat. These Artes help to string together powerful combos that will leave enemies reeling, bringing you closer to triggering enemy ending Boost Strikes. It is important to learn how to use artes early in the game, since this will form the core of your attacks in the game.

Skills are abilities, stat boosts, and new artes that you can learn and unlock after getting enough SP after leveling up. While getting all of the skills will give you a great amount of choices, focus on strengthening specific skills early-game, as this will help make the mid-game combat easier.
Best Artes and Skills For Each Character
Completing the first set of sub-quests in the game gives you a large amount of gald to buy weapons and equipment that will give you an edge in battle.
Combat consists of multiple elements, which include primary attacks, dodging, and Boost Attacks and Strikes. These elements combine together to create a fast-paced system that will test your skill and strategy when fighting strong enemies. It is a must to know how and when to strike the enemy!
Primary attacks form the basic parts of your combat, giving you quick attacks to combo with your artes. Dodging, on the other hand, allows you to evade enemy attacks, and give you a chance to counter and deal damage back.
Boost Attacks are special abilities that utilize your artes to deal high damage attacks. Once your boost gauges are up, unleash them to wreak havoc and deal special effects against enemies.
Boost Strikes happen when two characters combine to unleash a very powerful attack that can finish off enemies with a single strike. Activate it at the right time, and you'll make quick work of enemies.
CP is used to heal and revive party members during combat, and you only have a limited amount that you can use early in the game. Make sure to refill them in the campfire while resting to keep your party healthy!

Whether you're new to JRPGs, or a veteran of the Tales series, adjusting the difficulty is important in order to adjust the game's challenges and give you a better gameplay experience.
Difficulty Mode Differences: Which Should You Choose?
Tales of Arise has a fast travel feature, which allows you to jump from one realm to another. Use this when you're trying to look for sub-quest objectives, or when going back to previous areas! Just keep in mind that you can't fast travel during certain story quests.
Fleeing from combat is something you can do in case enemies become too tough, or you need to replenish your CP. Enemies disappear after you flee, so use this when you're caught in a bad situation!
How to Flee (Run) From Enemies
Cooking food is important to give you much-needed boosts to your entire party when exploring and fighting. Go to a campfire and prepare those delicious meals! Some characters have special cooking effects for their favorite dishes, so let them cook up something nice.
Cooking Guide: How to Cook Food
You can switch party members around during combat, allowing you to use a different character to fight certain types of enemies. This comes in handy when you want to create devastating combos!
How to Switch Characters in Combat
The in-game map makes sure that you won't get lost on your journey to defeat Rehna. Learn what each icon means, and you can find different enemies, items, and fast travel points that will make your journey easier.
How to Display the Map and Explanation of Icons
Your Artes Gauge is an indicator of how many artes you can perform during combat. This will replenish overtime, which means using the right artes carefully makes sure that you would not run out of AG while fighting!
How to Restore AG (Artes Gauge)
Gigants are large and strong enemies that will give you a very tough challenge when you face them. Do not attack them immediately, since some of them have very high levels compared to your current party. Make sure you're strong enough to fight them before taking them head-on!
