How to Beat Polycephus

Tips

Attack its Weak Point

Attack its Weak Point.gif
Despite its size and power, you can break Polycephus' Weak Point by focusing your attacks on it. Alternate between using Alphen or Law to try and get in combo hits against the Weak Point until it breaks.

Use Law's Boost Attack

Use Law
Another effective way of breaking Polycephus' Weak Point is by using Law's Boost Attack. This will help to stagger the boss more quickly and reduce the amount of time you'd need to dedicate to focusing on the Weak Point.

Grab Best Equipment

If you have no intention of returning to this Gigant later at a higher level with better equipment, the gear available in Cyslodia after the Ganabelt fight is more than adequate for this Gigant.

It is recommended that you at least get this equipment for your active party members before attempting to fight Polycephus.

Make Use of Boost Attacks

Alphen's Boost Attack is incredibly useful for this fight. It allows you to stagger Polycephus, causing it to crash to the ground where you'll then be able to cause it further harm until it eventually recovers. This allows time for your casters to finish their Artes to further increase the amount of damage your group can cause.

Allow to Freely Attack

Although Law at this juncture does not have many Artes to work with, the ones he comes with when he joins your party are more than adequate to cause damage against Polycephus. To maximize his damage output, you can direct Law to focus on Polycephus' Weak Point.

Using his Boost Attack can also shatter the Weak Point more easily, giving you enough time to cause Polycephus damage uninterrupted once it collapses to the ground.

Primary Healer

While dodging Polycephus' attacks can be easy, there is no real way to avoid them completely. Getting hit by any one of its attacks can cause you significant damage – Shionne's healing abilities is an extremely useful remedy to this, with the only thing you need to watch out for throughout the battle being your CP.

Give Time to Cast Artes

With Alphen and Law attacking Polycephus head-on, it should keep the zeugle occupied enough that it allows you to finish casting Rinwell's Artes, which can cause multiple amounts of damage against it in a small amount of time.

Polycephus Attack Patterns

Beam Attacks

Beam Attacks.gif
Polycephus' two heads are indicative of the type of elements that it can wield – Water and Fire. Throughout the fight, it will have the ability to make use of either of the heads to send a stream of elemental energy out against you, while also being capable of combining them for a directed beam attack.

Jump Attacks

Jump Attacks.gif
Its most commonly performed set of attacks where it will jump around the area erratically – getting hit by this attack can knock you back as well as cause significant damage. This attack can be avoided by simply observing the creature.

Polycephus will crouch low before jumping, giving you enough time to execute a Perfect Dodge.
