Tales of Arise - How to Use Boost Attacks
This is a guide on how to perform Boost Attacks in Tales of Arise. Read on to find out how you can call your allies to perform unique attacks that can leave enemies reeling!

How to Perform Boost Attacks

Fill Up the Boost Gauge by Attacking

The Boost Gauge of a character you are controlling during combat can only be filled by performing attacks against an enemy. Characters who are not directly controlled will perform attacks on their own depending on the chosen combat Strategy, and will have their Boost Gauges gradually fill up independently.

Select a Character

A character's icon will flash a golden color when they are ready to perform a Boost Attack. Press the action button that corresponds to a ready character to activate their Boost Attack.

Players will need to press the Switch button when choosing to activate the Boost Attack of a character that is in the Support Member group of your party.

What Are Boost Attacks?

Special Attacks by Characters

Tales of Arise - What Are Boost Attacks
A Boost Attack is a special action undertaken by one character in your party against a targeted enemy. Once activated, the selected party member will come in for a special attack that can deal good amounts of damage against a target.

Each character has a Boost Attack that is unique to them, with each unique attack having different effects on enemies.

Represented by Boost Gauge

Tales of Arise - Boost Gauge
A character's readiness to perform a Boost Attack is represented by their Boost Gauge. This gauge surrounds the character's profile image at the bottom left corner of the screen.

This gauge gradually fills over time through combat, similar to how Boost Strikes are made available.

Guns down flying enemies and prevents them from taking flight for a brief period of time.
If you get hit by an enemy while you're chanting a spell, you will not be able to use that spell for a while.
Armored enemies have their armors destroyed, lowering Defense and increasing chances to land a critical hit.
Grants additional Defense Buff to all party members. Stops charging enemies in their tracks.
Traps fleet-footed enemies in vines, holding them into place, and leaving them vulnerable to team attacks.

Choosing the Right Boost Attack

Character Boost Attack Enemy Type

If you know the type of Zeugle you're going up against, choosing the right Boost Attack can definitely put you to an advantage. The right boost attack can leave your enemy incapacitated for a brief period of time long enough to create an opening and improve your chances of winning.

After triggering a boost attack, you can hold L1 and press the dpad button of the character you called in for a boost attack to quickly swap to them mid attack animation and continue your combo on a new character (who is now right next to the enemy you are targeting)
