Great Dragon can be found in the southwestern portion of Traslida Highway. You must first fight a pack of boars to encounter the dragon as part of the Sub-Quest Claiming a Bounty.

To aid in your battle against Great Dragon, here are some tips that you can utilize in your fight.
Before being able to fight against Great Dragon itself, you will encounter a pack of Boars that you will have to fight against first before the dragon will swoop down. Take care of the Boars first if you are unable to defeat them before the Great Dragon comes down from the sky, as their charges will be difficult to overcome if left unchecked.
Great Dragon is weak to Water-based attacks. Equip your party members such as Rinwell and Shionne with these Artes, and if none are available, be sure you have all the best equipment available at this point in Elde Menancia.
Oftentimes, Great Dragon will attempt to cast Artes of its own – outside of its Over Limit state, you can use Rinwell's Boost Attack to cancel out its Artes, knocking it to the ground in a stunned state.
Alternatively, you can make use of Alphen's Boost Attack to acquire the same effects.

Before heading into the fight, go into your Artes List for your party members and turn off all Fire-based Artes to force the party members you don't directly control to make use of Artes that Great Dragon is not resistant to.

---|---|
Flare Claw | |
Topaz Mail | |
Pierce Emblem | |
Ground Artes | Aerial Artes |
Severing Wind | Mirage |
Sword Rain: Alpha | Stardust |
Mega Sonic Thrust | Luna Rondo |
Alphen's physical strength, including his powerful Boost Attacks, is a good choice for attacking Great Dragon's Weak Point. He can easily shatter it with persistent strikes before you reach half of Great Dragon's HP. You can make this process occur faster by doing it in tandem with Law.
Shionne
Lv.25 |

---|---|
Innocent Lily | |
Middy Blouse | |

Ground Artes | Aerial Artes |
Healing Circle | Toxicity |
Spread | Glacio Celestra |
Freeze Lancer | - |
At this stage in the game, Shionne will have a decent amount of Water-based Artes to make use of during the fight against Great Dragon. To shift away some of the healing duties usually put on her, you can swap out any other party member in your active party with Dohalim or Kisara if you've unlocked some of their healing Artes.
Alternatively, you can make use of Items you've acquired beforehand to temporarily be used for healing.
Rinwell

Equipment |
---|---|
Silver Sword the Owl | |
Topaz Cloak | |
Garnet | |
Ground Artes | Aerial Artes |
Air Thrust | Swallow's Flight |
Spread | Placid Pool |
Tempest Whirl | - |
Whether or not Rinwell has Water-based Artes, you can simply just allow her to cast her own Artes freely to get decent damage done against Great Dragon. When controlling her, just simply cast her Artes from far away to avoid taking any damage.

Talon Storm | Glimmer Dragon |

Fang Blast | - |
Law can be used in the same manner that Alphen is used throughout the fight. Like Alphen, his Boost Attacks can also cause significant damage against Great Dragon's Weak Point. In tandem with Alphen, you can easily shatter its Weak Point faster than if you do it with just one character.
One of its common attacks, apart from its physical strikes, Great Dragon can send a spew of fire from its mouth into whichever direction it chooses. It is easy to avoid these attacks due to the slow build-up time before it unleashes the stream of fire. Great Dragon can perform this attack both on land and in the air.
While in the air, instead of making use of its regular stream of Fire, Great Dragon will instead shoot balls of fire down to the ground, causing a small explosion that can knock you to the ground if hit. If you stand back far away from the dragon when it flies, you'll be able to avoid the fireballs due to its limited range.
If allowed to finish its Artes casting, Great Dragon will be able to summon a giant ball from the sky that explodes once it reaches the ground. Staying close to the area of effect for this attack will knock you to the ground and cause a majority of your HP to be reduced.
