Tales of Arise is not a sequel to previous games in the Tales series. The game is not a continuation of any previous entry, and can be played without having to play other games in the franchise.
Like most games in the same series, Tales of Arise has a standalone story, setting, and characters that are different from other Tales games. Some mechanics and systems are also new to the game, offering a fresh new experience for fans of the series. The game's combat system, however, remains similar to previous entries like Tales of Berseria, which is a system that old players can pick up easily.
Tales of Arise is a JRPG set in the world of Dahna, a planet that has been ruled for 300 years by the Rena, stripping them of their freedom and resources. The game features large world, a dynamic combat system, and a diverse cast of characters.
The story follows Alphen and Shionne, two people from different worlds. While they may have different backgrounds, both of them want to change their fate and free the planet from oppression.
