How to Beat Ooze Hive

To aid in your battle against the Ooze Hive, here are some tips that you can utilize in your fight.

1. Aim at its weak point
2. Cancel its spell with Rinwell
3. Use Boost Strikes on other zeugles

Aim at Its Weak Point

Perform combos while locking on to its tongue until you achieve a core break. Once downed, go all out using your strongest attacks and Artes. Ooze Hive is weak to Fire attacks so using Fire-type Artes or Alphen's Blazing Sword skills will make this fight easier.

Cancel Its Spell with Rinwell

If Ooze Hive starts casting a spell (indicated by a purple circle), use Rinwell's Boost Attack to cancel it. This will not only interrupt the attack but it will also down Ooze Hive for a brief moment. Maximize the duration by using your strongest attacks.

Use Boost Strikes on Other Zeugles (Base Game Only)

Ooze Hive will occasionally summon Ooze that can drag the battle. Save Alphen and Shionne's Boost Strikes for this moment to get rid of them quickly.

Alternatively, you can also cancel their spells with your Artes or knocking them back with your basic attacks.

Control Rinwell for ranged combat

If you're not confident with your fighting skills, we recommend making Rinwell the leader and spam spells from afar. Keep your distance from Ooze Hive and time your dodge when it jumps. Controlling Rinwell also allows you to charge your Boost Attack faster for that neat spell cancel.

Control Alphen for higher damage output

Alphen has a strong set of Fire-type attacks to exploit Ooze Hive's weakness. His Blazing Sword skills can both deal large amounts of damage to Ooze Hive as well as clear Ooze quickly but use them moderately as these attacks consume HP.

Beyond the Dawn Tactics

Use As Your Primary Brawler - With his attacks enhanced by the Warrior Emblem, focus all of Alphen's efforts to Ooze Hive's tongue. Alphen's only task is to deal as much damage and boost attacks to help his teammates. When you see the Artes Gauge appear on Ooze Hive, use Rinwell to break its concentration.

Base Game Tactics

Unlock Arte Casting Mobility - Arte Casting Mobility is a skill obtained from Rinwell's Silver Sword Title. Unlocking it will allow Rinwell to move around while casting Artes. If you chose Rinwell as a leader, this will make it easier for you to cast spells without getting interrupted.

Beyond the Dawn Tactics

Ranged Healer - Equip Shionne with as much Fire-based Artes as you can to make things easier should you decide to switch to Shionne mid-battle; defense-wise, keep her out of harm's way and have her spam her keep an eye on everybody's health.

Base Game Tactics

Using Infernal Torrent - Spam basic attacks and Swallow Blade while using Alphen. If you have high HP, use Blazing Sword's Infernal Torrent on Ooze Hive's weak point and on clearing Ooze in the room. Additionally, you can unlock Mid-Air Evasion from the Skill Panel so you can continue your aerial combo after dodging midair.

Equip Poison Charm - As a melee fighter, Alphen is more likely to get hit by Ooze Hive's poison attacks and their poison debuff can chip a large portion of your HP bar. Equipping Poison Charm gives you immunity from the poison debuff. You still need to dodge, though, as you can still be damaged by these attacks on hit.

Elemental Artes Attacker - Dohalim is a decent choice for both offense and defense because of his elemental and healing artes. Keep a close eye on Dohalim's HP as a secondary attacker so you can use him as a reserve healer in case Shionne goes down.

Base Game Tactics

Use at least 2 Fire-type attacks - If you're planning to control Shionne instead of the other two characters, equip at least two fire-type attacks to exploit Ooze Hive's weakness with. If she's on full auto, then you don't have to worry about equipping skills as she will mostly use healing Artes instead.

Tank and Support Attacker - Kisara will have to take on most of the attacks and shield Dohalim and Shionne so they can heal the party and make sure that everybody stays alive.

Ooze Hive Attack Patterns

Melee Attacks

Ooze Hive can use different melee attacks in battle such as jump attacks and ground slams. These attacks are slow and can be easily dodged but you need to watch out for its roar as Ooze Hive can use it almost instantly and stagger you if you're too close.

Poison Attacks

It can also release poisonous blobs and acid that can inflict Poison on contact. The Poison Charm accessory can counter this effect as it gives immunity to poison although you'll still receive damage if you're hit with these attacks.

Summon Ooze

This boss becomes more annoying as soon as it summons Ooze. These zeugles can also cast Spread and puke poisonous blobs so take them out quickly with Fire-type attacks.

Spread

Ooze Hive will occasionally cast Spead which summons torrents from the ground that can damage and juggle your character if caught. Save Rinwell's Boost Attack for this attack so you can also leave it defenseless as a bonus.
