Tales of Arise - How to Use Mystic Artes

Mystic Artes are the most powerful attacks your playable characters can unleash in Tales of Arise. Read on to find out how to use Mystic Artes, and the conditions that need to be met in order to execute them!

How to Use Mystic Artes

Enter Over Limit Mode

Entering Over Limit alters your AG gauge and lets you use any Artes with no AG cost for a set amount of time. This also lets you use the character's special Mystic Artes.

Over Limit How to Enter and Effects

Execute Perfect Evades

Tales of Arise - Perfect Evasion
To enter Over Limit mode, execute evades perfectly with a Perfect Evasion by pushing your Left Stick to a direction and pressing R2 (for PS4 and PS5), or build it overtime by taking a sufficient amount of damage.

Perfect evades are indicated by a brief slow motion and a white glow on your character.

How to Do Perfect Dodges and Counter Edges

Hold Two Arte Buttons to Use Mystic Artes

Tales of Arise - Activating Mystic Artes

While in Over Limit status, press and hold two Arte buttons until the special cut-in animation plays to perform Mystic Artes.

Note that using Mystic Artes will end your Over Limit status, so it is recommended to spam your normal Artes first before executing the Mystic Artes.

For the Tales of Arise Demo Version, Mystic Artes is only available for Alphen.

What Are Mystic Artes?

Devastating Special Attacks

Tales of Arise - Alphen Scarlet Outburst.gif
Mystic Artes are the strongest special attacks of the characters, which have also became a staple in the Tales series. Mystic Artes often feature a special cut-in image of the character and a cutscene of their most powerful move, but for Tales of Arise, it skips to the cutscene immediately.

Naturally, using a Mystic Arte deals a tremendous amount of damage. This is recommended to use when fighting tough and powerful Zeugles.

Special Conditions Must Be Met

Tales of Arise - Overlimit Mode
Unlocking and executing Mystic Artes in the Tales series often involves meeting a certain condition before being able to activate it. In Tales of Arise, the player needs to activate the Over Limit status first.
