Fishing in Tales of Arise is a multi-part minigame that consists of casting your lure, reeling in your fish, and landing your catch!
Here are the steps you can follow to catch a fish successfully.
To start fishing, you need to locate a fishing area by heading to a body of water with a dock.
These areas are scattered across different spots in the world and can be found by locating the fishing spot icons on the map.
Move your lure across the surface of the water until the highlight turns from blue to yellow. This denotes that there are fish in the area that can be caught.

The first phase of catching the fish is luring the fish. There's a chance of multiple fish moving towards your lure, which means that the first one to reach it will be the one you'll get.
After luring it, you will enter a sequence where you need to perform timed button presses. You need to press when the ring goes inside the icon to keep the fish moving toward you and enter the second phase.
The second phase consists of a QTE event wherein you have to pull the rod in the opposite direction of the fish, all while pressing the correct buttons that show on screen.
Proper timing is the most important thing for this phase and often spells the difference between catching a fish and letting it get away.
Some fish can only be caught while having a specifc Rod or Lure equipped. Make sure you've got the correct fishing gear equipped for the fish you're trying to catch.
How to Get All Fishing Rods and Lures
All fishing locations are home to a limited number of fish types that can be found there. Move from one fishing location to another to capture all the different fish types.
