1. Agree to Find Toku's Charm
From Yotei's Shadow Inn, follow the Nupur River winding northeast. Along the river heading into Serpent's Pass, you will reach the Prospector's Camp. Talk to Toku, who is by the river with his bear Shino.
Toku will task you with retrieving a charm for Mari from Taro the Scavenger, who is camping by Dead Man's Tree further north.
2. Buy Back Toku's Charm from Taro
| 2.1 |  Go north, following the mountains, until you reach Dead Man's Tree and find Taro's camp there. Talk to Taro, who will give you Taro's Armor free of charge if this is your first time meeting him. |

| 2.2 |  After talking to Taro, Saito outlaws will appear. Defeat them and talk to Taro again to buy back Toku's charm. |
| 2.3 |  Buy Toku's Charm of Blessings for 400 coins from the Charms tab. There are also other charms you can buy from Taro, such as the Charm of Healing for better survivability, or either the Charm Furious Attacks or Charm of Confident Strikes for your Katana and Dual Katanas. |
3. Lay the Charm on Mari's Grave
| 3.1 |  From Dead Man's Tree, follow the guiding winds north to thewest of Yubari Lake until you reach a graveyard at the Monument Tree. You will see a man being harassed by Saito outlaws. Defeat them to rescue the man. |

| 3.2 |  Talk to the man, who will introduce himself as Mari's father. Listen to what he has to say about the true story behind Mari's death. He will not allow you lay Toku's charm on the grave. |
4. Confront Toku at His Camp
Go back to Toku at his camp. Listen to Toku's full story of how Mari died to end the side quest.
5. Feed the Bear to Get the Reward
| 5.1 |  After a moment, interact with Shino to talk to the bear. Afterwards, interact with the bowl nearby twice to place some fish for Shino to eat. |

| * |  If you don't have any fish to give, you can head to the river and collect fish from the two traps. This will give you enough food to progress. |
| 5.2 |  Follow Shino towards an area near the camp and collect the Untamed Loyalty sword kit for the katana. |

How to Unlock The Loss We Carry
Talk to the Settler in the Prospector's Camp
Head northeast from the Yotei's Shadow Inn. Follow Serpent's Pass river until you reach the Prospector's Camp, where you can find Toku with his bear by the river. Speak with Toku and join him by his camp to unlock the quest.
