How to Increase Survival Skill

Use a Skill Magazine or a Skill Book

You can increase your Survival skill using Skill Magazines and Skill Books. Skill Magazines can temporarily increase your Survival skill while a Skill Book can increase it permanently.

We recommend grabbing the skill book for Survival to increase this skill for good.

Use a Console Command

Format player.setav Survival [your desired level]
Example player.setav Survival 100

You can also increase your Survival skill using a console command. Follow the format above and add your desired level at the end of the command without the [ ] symbol.

What Does Survival Do?

Better Sustenance From Food

As your body gets used to the nuclear fallout, it gets attuned to processing food for sustenance, however nasty it may be. With higher points in Survival, the effectiveness of food items is increased by having increased durations for their effects. However, this does include debilitating effects such as CHR -1

Unlocks Crafting Recipes

The Courier has experienced firsthand what it takes to survive in the Wasteland. Since Survival is almost akin to experience, you gain multiple crafting recipes in campfires to help you survive. These recipes include poisons, chems, and consumable food and drink items!
