How to Unlock Bye Bye Love

Talk to Joana or Carlitos

You can begin this quest by talking to either Joana or Carlitos. Each of them will have skill checks for you to pass in order to trigger the dialogue that begins this side quest.

Joana Start

Joana is located in the courtyard of Gomorrah and you will need to pass a 50 Medicine or 75 Speech check.

Carlitos Start

Carlitos is located in the diner area of Vault 21 and will require you to pass a 50 Speech check.

Talk to Joana or Carlitos

Talk to Joana or Carlitos to begin this quest then talk to the other person (opposite of who you first talked to when starting the quest) to get them up to speed on the plan. After the two have agreed on the plan, talk to Carlitos to begin the escape.

Optional: Find the Two Guns-for-Hire That Owe Carlitos a Favor

Carlitos will suggest getting backup before attempting the escape. You can find the two guns-for-hire at the Atomic Wrangler.

Meet Up With Joana Between 12:00AM and Dawn at Gomorrah

Head back to Joana's room and tell her the plan's pushing through then wait for 12:00 AM to talk to her again.

Travel to Freeside With Joana

Wait for Joana at the lobby in Gomorrah then talk to her so you can begin traveling to Freeside.

Defeat the Omerta Thugs or Pass the Checks

Upon meeting Carlitos at Freeside, a group of Omerta Thugs will ambush your group. From here, you have a choice of persuading them to let you go though some skill checks or you can kill them.

Best Choice for Bye Bye Love

Talk Things Out With the Omerta Thugs

Once you get ambushed by the Omerta Thugs, we recommend de-escalating the situation and pass the skill checks instead of fighting them. This is mainly for Carlitos and Joana's survival as letting either one die from the encounter will cause the quest to fail.

The skill checks include 75 and 85 for Speech, 8 and 9 for Strength, and 85 and 75 for Barter.

Recruit The Guns-for-Hire If You Can't Pass Skill Checks

If you don't have the means to pass these skill checks, we recommend taking on the optional objective of recruiting the guns-for-hire as they can help in taking out the Omerta Thugs faster.
