Veronica | Melee Specialist Veronica is one of the easiest companions to recruit in Fallout New Vegas. She deals a lot of melee damage with her Power Fist and can take a lot of hits when given power armor early on. She can also craft Workbench items through dialogue whenever you're travelling together. |
---|---|
ED-E | Portable Crafting and Reloading Bench A durable Prototype Eyebot easily obtainable near the start of the game. ED-E can help with spotting enemies that are out of range if you're trying to avoid an ambush. He also has a zapper that makes him more than capable in filling a ranged support role. Just like Veronica, you will also have access to crafting workbench and reloading bench items through dialogue. |
Arcade | Energy Weapons and Medical Expert Provides a bonus to HP recovered from all consumable items. Highly effective with the Plasma Defender he carries, but is in dire need of better armor as his lab coat does not offer that much protection. He is, however, able to equip power armor right from the start, provided that it's not faction owned. |
---|---|
Raul | Gunslinger Mechanic Raul is great with pistols and lever-action rifles when he is not busy providing weapon repairs at his shack. With his perk, the condition of weapons and armor decay at a slower rate. |
Rex | Durable Melee Police Dog Has a good amount of health and DT (Damage Threshold). Cannot provide any assistance with ranged combat, but is capable of constantly knocking down enemies, which helps with prioritizing your targets during combat. Containers with consumable items also get highlighted whenever you zoom in or aim down your sights. |
Boone | Former NCR Sniper Boone can easily take down targets from a safe distance with rifles. However, he is not much help when asked to provide melee assistance or when the fighting takes place indoors. He is in need of an immediate armor upgrade as well. |
---|---|
Cass | Whiskey Rose Cass is a well-rounded companion that provides varying bonuses depending on the type of alcohol you consume. Having her around also removes the negative effects you get from alcohol, including addictions and Intelligence loss. |
Lily | Melee and Stealth Specialist Lily is quite useful for melee encounters as she can take on a good beating before going down. With that said, most of the other companions you encounter easily overshadow her with the skills and perks they have on hand. |
