How to Increase Sneak Skill

Use a Skill Magazine or a Skill Book

You can increase your Sneak skill using Skill Magazines and Skill Books. Skill Magazines can temporarily increase your Sneak skill while a Skill Book can increase it permanently.

We recommend grabbing the skill book for Sneak to increase this skill for good.

Skill Books Map Locations and Guide

Use a Console Command

Format player.setav Sneak [your desired level]
Example player.setav Sneak 100

You can also increase your Sneak skill using a console command. Follow the format above and add your desired level at the end of the command without the [ ] symbol.

What Does Sneak Do?

Dictates the Chances of Detection

Whenever you are crouched, you will enter a hidden state. Sneak then dictates the chances for any individual to spot you out of the hidden state. If you have a high Sneak skill, most people will not even feel the wind shift with your presence!

Increases Likelihood of Stealing and Pickpocketing

With quiet footsteps come nimble fingers. When you have a high Sneak skill, you will have an increased chance to leave counters and pockets clean without being spotted.
