Volare! Side Quest Walkthrough

This is a walkthrough of the Volare! side quest in Fallout New Vegas (FNV). Read on to learn how to unlock Volare!, where to find Pearl, the quest rewards, and the best dialogue choices for completing the Volare! side quest.

How to Unlock Volare!

Talk to Pearl at the Nellis AFB

To unlock this side quest, journey to the Nellis Air Force Base, north of the wasteland. You will need to survive the shelling of the area by staying in cover and running at the appropriate time.

How to Avoid the Barrage

How to Avoid Barrage
1	Run to the closest structure that can block their line of sight. This will cause them to aim randomly and completely miss you.
2	As soon as the shelling stops, move forward and quickly find your next cover before the barrage restarts.
3	Repeat until you reach the fence where they will not shoot at you.

Help the Boomers Around Nellis

Some of these quests are unmarked, and you will have to find the questgiver to accomplish.

You don't have to do all of them all to complete Volare!, but you can still do some of them after the quest asks you to return to Pearl. However, you'll have to find the people as they will no longer be marked on your compass.

Speak with Pearl Then Loyal

After reaching completing several tasks for the Boomers, return to Pearl and she will send you to Loyal to get your next task. You will be asked to raise a plane from the bottom of a lake.

Ask Jack for a Rebreather (Optional)

Before heading to the lake, you can optionally ask Jack to make you a Rebreather. The apparel will allow you to breathe underwater indefinitely.

To acquire the Rebreather from Jack, you need either 45 Science or a pressure cooker. Pressure cookers can be found in kitchens, houses, and even shops.

Dive in the Lake and Attach the Ballast Under the Wings

Once in the lake, wear the Rebreather if you acquired it, and dive underwater. Under the wings of the plane, you can attach the two bombs provided by Loyal.

Use Loyal's Detonator

Go back to shore and equip Loyal's Detonator from your inventory. Activate the detonator to see the plane rise to the surface of the lake.

Return to Loyal and Pearl

Return to Loyal then Pearl to complete this quest.

At this point, you will become Idolized by the Boomers and you can ask Pearl to have them assist you in the upcoming battle between the different major factions.

Best Choice for Volare!

Get the Rebreather From Jack

The Rebreather will allow you to breathe underwater indefinitely, and this quest is the only way to acquire it. So, there's no reason to not get it as it will make diving-related quests a lot easier, and it will allow you to explore underwater areas as well.

By completing Volare! you will have gained enough favor from the Boomers to ask them to ally with you. If you do, you will be able to ask them to assist you in the upcoming battle between the different major factions.
