Debt Collector Side Quest Walkthrough
This is a walkthrough of the Debt Collector side quest in Fallout New Vegas (FNV). Read on to learn how to unlock Debt Collector, where to find Francine Garret, the quest rewards, and the best dialogue choices for completing the Debt Collector side quest.
How to Unlock Debt Collector
Talk to Francine Garret
You can begin this side quest by talking to Francine Garret at the Atomic Wrangler in Freeside. She works the bar/front desk and if she isn't there, you will need to let time pass/sleep until 6:00 AM.
Debt Collector Walkthrough
Talk to Francine Garret
Talk to Francine Garret at the Atomic Wrangler to begin this quest. She will task you with collecting the debt from three individuals: Lady Jane, Grecks, and Santiago.
Santiago Is Excluded If He's Already Working At Atomic Wrangler
If you recruited Santiago to work at Atomic Wrangler during the side quest Wang Dang Atomic Tango, he won't be included in this side quest. Francine will mention that they will just collect the debt from his earnings.
Wang Dang Atomic Tango Side Quest Walkthrough
Find and Collect 250 Caps from Lady Jane
Follow your compass to The Strip North Gate where you can find Lady Jane near the bench on the right.
Pass The Skill Checks
If you have a Speech or Barter of 40, you can get her to give you 156 caps along with some items to cover the missing caps. If you have the Lady Killer perk or a Perception of 7, you can select those choices instead as you can get her to stop lying and give you all 250 caps.
Retrieve The Caps From Her Caravan
If you can't pass any of these checks, you can volunteer to get the caps from her caravan. Head to the marker on the minimap to the Broc Flower Cave. There will be Giant Rats inside so prepare to fight but once you find the caravan you will walk away with 276 caps.
Collect 138 Caps from Grecks in Freeside
Follow your compass to Grecks in Freeside and talk to him. He'll hand over all the caps easily but you can coerce him to get even more caps as well as his clothes.
Collect 212 caps from Santiago in Freeside
You can find Santiago by following your compass to the building in front of Mick & Ralph's. Talk to Santiago and select the dialogue that punches him or threatens to kill him and you can get 212 caps. If you have 50 Speech, you can pass the skill check instead and get 256 caps.
Objective Isn't Included If Santiago Is Already Working At Atomic Wrangler
If you recruited Santiago to work at Atomic Wrangler, this objective won't be included in this side quest. Francine will talk about this when you first start talking to her and mentions that they will just collect the debt from his earnings.
Return to Francine with 600 caps
Head back to the Atomic Wrangler and talk to Francine. She'll task you with killing Caleb McCaffery, located in The Strip.
If Santiago is already working at Atomic Wrangler, his debt won't be included in this number bringing down the total to just 388 caps.
Kill Caleb McCaffery
Enter The Strip and talk to Caleb where you'll have a choice of killing or sparing him.

Return to Francine with McCaffery's Hat
Head back to the Atomic Wrangler and give the hat to Francine to complete this side quest.
Best Choice for Debt Collector
Kill Caleb McCaffery
While you can pass the skill check and convince Caleb to give you his hat along with 57 caps, we recommend just killing him as this lets you loot all his items which include 165 caps along with his hat. You won't have to give the caps to Francine since she only asked for his hat.
