Can You Sprint in Fallout New Vegas?

You Cannot Sprint

Fallout New Vegas - NCR Salvage Power Armor Model

You cannot sprint in Fallout New Vegas. The game's default speed is similar to jogging, which is a pain when trying to outrun fast enemies.

While there is an Agility attribute in the game, it only affects the speed of drawing, holstering, and reloading your weapons, but not the movement speed of your character.

How to Move Faster?

Get the Travel Light Perk

Travel Light
Requirements Level: Lv. 4
SPECIAL: -
Skills: Survival 45
Description While wearing light armor or no armor, you run 10% faster.

The Travel Light perk increases your overall movement speed by 10% when you're not wearing any armor or wearing only Light Armor.

Travel Light ID and How to Get

Use Console Commands

Command player.setav speedmult [value]
Example player.setav speedmult 150

This feature is only available on the PC, so you can't set the movement speed faster on consoles.

Here's how to open the Console Command:

  1. Press the tilde (~) key to open the console
  2. Type in the command and hit enter
  3. Exit the console with the tilde (~) key

It's recommended to set the value at 200, which doubles the default speed, and to make it similar to sprinting. You'll have to crouch and uncrouch once to apply the new movement speed values.
