In Tales of Arise, enemies and character moves can have increased damage based on their elemental types. Read on for the different elemental matchups and weaknesses in the game.

Elemental Matchup and Weakness Chart

Element 1		Element 2
Fire	↔	Water
Wind	↔	Earth
Light	↔	Dark

There are 6 Elements in Tales of Arise with each having a matching opposite element as shown above. In an element matchup, both are weak to each other while the element is resistant to itself.

For example, Fire is weak to Water and at the same time Water is weak to Fire. On the other hand, Fire elemental enemies are resistant to Fire artes while Water elemental enemies are resistant to Water artes.

How to Check Elements

Target Enemies to Check Elements

Enemy Element Target Screen
Players can check an enemy's elemental type by targetting an enemy in a battle. Simply press L1 or Left Alt and check the upper left hand corner to see an enemy's elemental type, when scrolling through each enemy.

Not all enemies have an elemental type and are therefore not weak or resistant to any element.

Head to the Character Artes Menu

Arte Element
To check the element of a character's arte, simply head over to the arte menu and scroll over each arte to see their info. The elemental type should be in the info section as well.

Not all artes have an elemental type.
