Most of the books that can be read in the Gauntlet Runner are unlocked once you receive new party members, with the exception of The Magical Future, which can be obtained from Julian, a priest in Port Brilehaven.

Be warned that will not be able to get his book once the 13th day of the 8th month passes, so make sure to pick it up as it is required to be read if you want to obtain the Bookworm Achievement.

How to Use The Magical Future

Interact With the Bookshelf While in The Gauntlet Runner

By interacting the bookshelf while traveling in your Gauntlet Runner, you can read any book available to you. Note that it takes three readings to finish a book so make sure to plan your travels accordingly

You cannot read while in a town, so if you want to finish a book, you need to set course for a location and read on the way over in the Gauntlet Runner.
