You can play solo in Zombies by turning off Squad Fill in the lobby of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3). Read on to learn more about how to play solo and tips on playing solo!
List of Contents
The Squad Fill toggle can be found in the main lobby. You can play solo by turning off Squad Fill before queueing for a game. This will prevent other players from joining your group, allowing you to enter solo or duo if you have another player with you.
If you're already in Urzikstan and have changed your mind about going solo, you can always approach any nearby squad and join them. You can see the location of other players by opening your Tac-map.

It goes without saying that it's recommended to bring the best equipment if you're going to play solo. Make sure that you have the best weapons you can equip and that you have materials to upgrade it like Aether Tools and Aetherium Crystals.
If, however, you're starting with no equipment or items, at least bring Decoy Grenades with you, as they are extremely useful in distracting enemies.

Perks become extra important if you're going solo since your survival will solely be based on your character stats. Aim to at least have Stamin-Up, Speed Cola, Jugger-Nog, and Quick Revive. If you're starting with no items, you'd also want Death Perception to be able to easily identify nearby loot caches.
You can obtain these Perks through Perk Machines or get them for free through Mister Peeks Easter Eggs.

Deliver Cargo Contracts are the easiest contracts you can complete as a solo player. It's advisable to aim for these contracts, especially at the beginning, since this can give you tons of Essence without fighting.
This will help you set yourself up to buy Perks, obtain or upgrade weapons, and purchase items at a Buy Station.
How to Complete Deliver Cargo Contract
Hidden Caches are loot caches that often have valuable loot that can tremendously help you as a solo player. These caches often contain high-rarity weapons, Self-Revive kits, and Turret Ammo Circuits, among other useful items. The best part is that you can open these caches without firing a single bullet.
Self-Revive kits are your only life line when playing solo, so it's recommended to have multiple of them. You can only equip one Self-Revive kit at a time but you can stow multiple of them. Your stowed self revives will automatically be equipped if you ever go down.
You can acquire Self-Revive kits by purchasing them at Buy Stations or by acquiring them through Rift Rewards or Loot Caches.
You can obtain a pet dog that can attack other players and revive you if you go down. To get one, use Chunks of Flesh and deposit them in Dog houses found across Urzikstan. If you don't want other players as companions, then maybe a pet dog is for you!
