How to Equip Guards

Unlock the Guard Slot for Your Gun

Before you can equip a Guard attachment for your gun in MW3, you will first need to unlock its Guard Slot. To unlock this attachment slot, you will need to earn Weapon XP for your chosen gun by using it in MW3 multiplayer matches, Zombies, or Warzone.

Equip a Guard via the Gunsmith

Once you have both the Guard Slot and a compatible Guard unlocked for your gun, you can customize your weapon and add the Guard via the Gunsmith.

What are Guards?

Modifies Recoil Control and Flinch Resistance

Guards allow you to better control gun recoil when equipped. Other options will even offer Flinch Resistance, allowing you to keep a steady aim even while being hit by enemy bullets.

Affects Rechambering Speed on Shotguns

On shotguns, guards also affect your rechambering speed. A faster rechambering speed means less time between shotgun blasts, making you more effective when fighting in close quarters.
