What is the Rift Pedestal Bug?

Modern Warfare 3 - No Interact Button on Rift Pedestal

There was a bug that does not let players interact with the Rift Pedestals in front of the Dark Aether Rift and prevented them from placing Key Items on top of the pedestals.

This left several players unable to open the Dark Aether Rift portal to enter and explore the new Zombies zone that came with the Season 1 update.

The 3rd dark rift is bugged and will not let me interact with the offerings like it was before
