Modern Warfare 3 - How to Play Split Screen

Split screen mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) is available for Playstation and Xbox in select game modes. See how to play split screen, the available game modes, and if you can play the campaign in split screen.

Is There Split Screen in MW3?

Only Multiplayer on Console Has Splitscreen

As of writing, only Xbox and PlayStation consoles have splitscreen functionality. The second player will need to use a different account when logging into the console. Additionally, when playin on splitscreen, you will only be able to queue up for 6v6 multiplayer game modes.

No Splitscreen for Zombies and Campaign

Unfortunately, even if console has splitscreen functionality for Multiplayer, both Zombies mode and the MW3 Campaign will not support splitscreen. The only way to play with your friends is via online play.

No Split Screen for PC

Unfortunately, split screen mode is only available for consoles. PC players will need to have separate machines and copies of the game to play together with someone else.

How to Play Split Screen

Connect a Second Controller

To start playing split screen, simply connect a second controller at the main menu. The game will then ask you to select a second user, so you'll need to create another account if you don't have one already.

After selecting a user, hit the designated confirm button on the second controller (X on Playstation or A on Xbox) to activate split screen.
