Is Retention Worth It?

Limited Use but Strong for Critical Builds

If you plan to go for a critical-based build, Retention can be worth taking for the additional 2 minutes for the 5% critical boost from True Police Stories. Furthermore, you can also utilize Retention for a quick damage boost for some weapon skills.

However, skill magazines are scarce in the Wasteland, meaning that Retention can be a limited perk if you haphazardly use your skill magazines.

How to Get Retention Perk

Reach Lv. 2

You can get Retention after reaching Lv. 2.

Leveling up quickly can be done by exploiting the Goodsprings side quest, getting the “Well Rested” bonus, and doing other side quests among others.

Have Intelligence 5

To get Retention, you also need to have Intelligence 5.

You can increase a SPECIAL stat by getting the Intense Training Perk once you reach Level 2 or by buying an implant from Dr. Usanagi.
