When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Legendary Claude are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows Legendary Claude to get a ton of follow-up attacks on his foes. Additionally, his Spd is a superboon so you should take advantage of that as much as possible. It also decreases the amount of follow-up attacks he receives which is very important for his bulk as this synergizes well with Fallen Star. His Res is of less importance and thus safe to be taken as a bane.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Legendary Claude to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. With this IV, he reaches 49 Spd at +10 Merges. If you prefer relying on skills to increase Claude's Spd or you think you will not be up against very fast foes, you can go for a +Atk IV instead.

Deadeye is an anti-meta weapon that counters powerful damage reduction-based units skills such as Brave Edelgard. It is pretty expensive as of early 2021 as it is only currently available from Shinion, but it allows Claude to counter very powerful units easily. If you don't like paying attention to Atk/Spd Catch 4's trigger conditions, you can get Atk/Spd Solo 4 instead.

This skill simply gives Legendary Claude the standard Reposition movement-assist and a Spd Smoke 3 Sacred Seal that helps Claude widen the Spd gap he creates with his skills even further. For other Sacred Seals you can use, you can also grab Aerobatics 3 with a mixed team, or Flier Formation 3 in a Flier Emblem team composition.

Legendary Claude is a ranged physical attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

As a Legendary Hero, you will gain an Earth Blessing when summoning Legendary Claude. Additionally, being an Earth type Legendary Hero means that during Earth Seasons, other allies with an Earth Blessing will receive HP+3 when they appear in battle with Claude, and Claude's total stats will be treated as 190. This will lead to a higher Arena Score.
If Claude's HP is at least 25% HP, Failnaught grants him +5 Atk/Spd/Def/Res and the effects of Null Follow-Up! Null Follow-Up neutralizes effects that guarantee foe's follow-up attacks and effects that prevent unit's follow-up attacks during combat.
Having access to Null Follow-Up means that you do not need to worry about him not having access to Null Follow-Up 3 as a flier to deal with specific units!
It also accelerates Claude's Special trigger by 1 count!
Due to Fallen Star's damage reduction, Claude only takes 3 damage instead of the calculated 13.
If Claude initiates an attack, he reduces the damage from the foe's first attack by 80%, which is massive. After exiting combat, it applies the 【Fallen Star】 status on him which reduces more damage in the ensuing enemy phase. This gives lots of incentive for Legendary Claude to attack every player phase so adjust your playstyle to cater to said trigger condition.
It also inflicts 【Gravity】 on his target and foes within 1 space of the target. This is a nice bonus and it can create for some interesting opportunites for kiting enemy units.
In addition to the effects of Failnaught, Atk/Spd Catch and Spd/Def Rein boosts Claude's in-combat stats even more!
The skill line debuting with Claude are the Catch skills. It checks for the following trigger conditions:
If one of these trigger conditions are active, it grants Claude +7 Atk/Spd, and if both conditions are active it grants an additional +2 Atk/Spd. This is a total of +9 Atk/Spd.
The former condition can be easily met especially in the starting turns of combat and the latter can easily be achieved thanks to Spd/Def Rein 3's effects. Together, they make Legendary Claude very powerful in-combat epsecially when it comes to Spd. This can be seen in the picture above.
Fallen Star only reduces damage from the foe's first attack, but it will be rare for enemies to score follow-up attacks on Claude anyway because he carries multiple tools to boost his Spd.
Summoners must not forget that Null Follow-Up is also integrated into Failnaught so no sneaky skill will allow foes to sneak a follow-up hit on Claude!
While Fallen Star is very powerful skill, Claude needs to initiate an attack for its effects to work. Players can easily play around this by securing a first hit on Claude to try and take him down at a whim, because of this, it is not as effective when Claude is in defense teams.
As a flying unit, Legendary Claude takes 1.5x damage from bows and weapons effective on flying units. Be sure to keep them out of the range of archers and leave them to other units.

Legendary Claude has an absurd amount of firepower even with little investment, so with refresher-assist units, you virtually double the firepower Claude is brigining to the table. Plegian Dorothea deserves a special mention because not only can she refresh Legendary Claude, she can also do a 2nd refresh through her Harmonized Skill since they are both from the Three Houses title. Additionally, she inflicts helpful debuffs to foes regardless of how far in the back line she is. This allows Claude to do the dirty work for her. She can bring firepower if needed too!
Reyson and Leanne are both refresher-assist fliers that can keep up with Claude's flying movement. They also provide passive heals to keep him healthy. Heals are still important for him even with the damage reduction! This is especially important for longer maps where Legendary Claude is your main source of damage.
Flayn is a great support that provides heals, movement-assist and an additional source of damage reduction for times when Claude can't set up his damage reduction or for situations when he will get attacked multiple times.
Linhardt on the other hand can provide heals and he can also dish out massive AoE damage when built correctly! Combine that with Claude's Gravity and you can dismantle many different lineups with the both of them.
A great offensive partner to Legendary Claude as she is a flier, and a magic user. She can cover the matchups that have high Def stats. Additonally, she can grant a Desperation effect through her Duo Skill for Legendary Claude whenever that is useful.

Shinon's Deadeye is the bane of Legendary Claude and it can take him out once activated. The fact that this can be inherited onto other high-powered units is bad news too! This makes the other high-powered bow units very deadly against Claude. The reason why Deadeye is a counter to Claude is it ignores the damage reduction provided by Fallen Star. This is Claude's main defense mechanism, and without it, he is very squishy.
On the other hand, bow units with very high mobility and reach such as Legendary Chrom, and Legendary Leif pose a big threat to Legendary Claude if the Summoner is not careful. If Claude fails to attack and deploy his damage reduction, these guys can easily take him out. On defense, these guys can also dive in if he is not protected.
Brave Claude, and Legendary Claude are also great matchups against him. It depends on who gets to whom first. Claude needs to initiate an attack to be untouchable, and if he fails, he is in trouble.
Since Fallen Star's damage reduction only works for the first phase of battle in the enemy phase, refresher-assists pose a threat to Legendary Claude as it allows the most powerful units from their team to launch a second attack against Legendary Claude.

Legendary Claude can be used to inherit the skills Atk/Spd Catch 4 or Spd/Def Rein 3. However, Legendary Claude is a very powerful Legendary Hero who can lead your team in the Arena, please think carefully before fodderring him off.
As of 2/2021, Atk/Spd Catch 4 has more inheritance value than Spd/Def Rein 3. Please keep this in mind when considering to fodder off Claude.
Legendary Claude is a limited time Hero who can be pulled from a Legendary Hero Summoning event. They do not appear in regular summons.
Note: Not currently a featured hero in any Summon events.
