+Spd / -Res

The best IVs for Valentine's Claude are +Spd and -Def. Claude's Spd is his most important stat at base 48, raised to 52 with a superboon, as it allows him to remain competitive with the fastest metagame units.

Valentine's Claude's Def and Res are equally unimportant, and can be chosen as a bane. We recommend -Def since Claude is expected to face ranged units as a ranged unit himself.

+Spd for a +10 merge

We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Valentine's Claude up to +10 to ensure he keeps up with invested fast metagame units.

How to Use, Explanation

Valentine's Claude already has a base kit that can function on both player and enemy phase with his built-in Vantage effect after initiating combat once. Emblem Lyn Ring provides extra reach, but is a luxury and not necessary.

Deer's Heart grants an extra action + Canto after first combat and grants true damage

Valentine's Claude comes with an exclusive bow in Deer's Heart. This Blue bow has built-in 【Canto (Rem.; Min 1)】 and grants Claude an extra action (once per turn) and Canto after his first combat, even if he is affected by Canto Control.

Deer's Heart grants 【Null Follow-Up】 and 【Preempt Pulse】 to Claude and nearby allies at the start of each turn.

In combat, Deer's Heart grants Claude bonus Atk/Spd/Def/Res equal to 5 + 15% of his Spd, neutralizes his foe's Spd/Def bonuses, grants Claude up to +25 bonus true damage based on the number of Bonus effects on Claude and Penalty effects on his foe, a Null Guard effect, and 7 HP post-combat healing.

Deer's Heart provides great support to Claude's allies and improves Claude's own combat significantly, making it a great weapon to use in battle.

Pure Starfall grants bonus true damage, Deep Star, and Vantage, and inflicts Gravity

Valentine's Claude also comes with an exclusive B skill in Pure Starfall. This skill inflicts Spd/Def-5 onto Claude's foe in combat and grants Claude bonus true damage equal to 20% of his Spd, damage reduction on his foe's first attack equal to 20% of his Spd, and a 50% damage reduction piercing effect, and a Scowl effect.

If Claude initiates combat, Pure Starfall also grants Claude 80% damage reduction on his foe's first attack and grants him 【Deep Star】 and 【Vantage】 while also inflicting 【Gravity】 onto his foe and all foes within 1 space of the target foe.

Valentine's Claude can combine the 【Gravity】 effect with his built-in 【Canto (Rem.; Min 1)】 to kite opponents and remain out of reach, while using his 【Vantage】 effect to pick off frail enemies at the same time.
