+Atk / -Def

The best IVs for Nuibaba are +Atk and -Def. Atk is a superboon and boosting Nuibaba's Atk improves her damage output on top of her true damage effects and Sly Mirror's guaranteed follow-up attack, making it very likely she can burst down enemies even if they have true damage reduction effects.

+Res is also a good option to improve her magical bulk as it is very high at base 47 and also has a superboon.

Nuibaba's base 17 Def is not worth investing into as she will fall to physical attackers no matter what.

+Res for a +10 merge

We recommend a +Res IV when merging Nuibaba up to +10 to maximize her Res check chances against even the elite Res tank units. Winning the Res check for Mounting Fear can be crucial against fully merged teams.

How to Use, Explanation

Nuibaba's base kit is already good enough to function as a high Res nuke unit with mapwide support. Atk/Res Finish 3 is the preferred Sacred Seal to provide bonus true damage and boost key stats.

Arcane Medusa grants Anathema, Preempt Pulse, and true damage

Nuibaba Attack

Nuibaba's inheritable Arcane Medusa grants her 【Anathema】 at the start of each turn.

【Anathema】 is a relatively new status that is essentially a Spd/Def/Res Hold effect. However, since it is a status effect, it can apply multiple times if allies with 【Anathema】 are near a foe.

In combat, Arcane Medusa grants Nuibaba bonus Atk/Spd/Def/Res equal to 25% of foe's Atk - 4 (max 14; min 5), true damage equal to 15% of her Atk, 7 damage reduction on foe's first attack, and a Preempt Pulse effect.

Arcane Medusa has most of the effects that modern exclusive weapons provide. However, it is missing true damage reduction, which is one of the more important effects found on good exclusive weapons. Keep this in mind when having Nuibaba take attacks in enemy phase.

Mounting Fear inflicts Panic, Exposure, and Deep Wounds to foes and grants Nuibaba true damage

Nuibaba's exclusive B skill Mounting Fear inflicts 【Panic】,【Exposure】, and 【Deep Wounds】 on foes with less Res than Nuibaba and are within 2 spaces of other foes. This effect has global range, allowing Nuibaba to provide support to your team from anywhere on the map.

In combat, Mounting Fear inflicts Atk/Res-5 onto Nuibaba's foe and grants Nuibaba bonus true damage equal to 20% of her Res and 50% damage reduction piercing.

More importantly, Mounting Fear sets the damage amount of Nuibaba's first attack to a value equal to the opponent's max HP minus 1, immediately bringing the foe down to 1 HP after the first attack. However, this set damage is before damage reduction. True damage reduction effects will reduce the final amount. An example scenario is outlined below:

  1. Nuibaba attacks a foe with 50 HP. This foe has "reduces damage from foe's first attack by 7 during combat".
  2. Mounting Fear sets the damage value of Nuibaba's first attack to 49 (50-1).
  3. The foe's true damage reduction effect applies, reducing the damage of Nuibaba's first attack by 7.
  4. Nuibaba's first attack deals 42 damage, leaving the opponent at 8 HP.

Nuibaba Weaknesses

Abysmal Def

Nuibaba's base 17 def leaves her incredibly vulnerable to physical damage, especially with no true damage reduction on her kit.
