How to Get Elder Sigils

Modern Warfare 3 - How to Get Elder Sigils

Elder Sigils are used to enter the Elder Dark Aether where players can get some of the new Classified Schematics in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Zombies. Read on to learn how to get Elder Sigils and how to use them to enter the harder version of the Dark Aether map.

How to Get Elder Sigils

Elder Sigils are rewards for completing contracts inside the regular Dark Aether map in MW3 Zombies. Follow the steps below to enter the Dark Aether and start completing contracts that could net you an Elder Sigil:

  1. Get Sigils From Contracts in the Red Zone
  2. Use the Sigil to Enter the Dark Aether
  3. Complete Dark Aether Contracts

Modern Warfare 3 - Get Sigils From Contracts in Red Zones

Regular Sigils have a chance to appear inside Reward Rifts after doing contracts in the high threat zone (Red Zone) of Urzikstan.

Any contract in the Red Zone will have a chance to drop Sigils, but we recommend Deliver Cargo as it can be finished quickly. If you and your squad are kitted out, then Eliminate the Bounty will be easier.

Use the Sigil to Enter the Dark Aether

Modern Warfare 3 - Enter the Dark Aether

After you've obtained a Sigil, head to the side of the Dark Aether Rift facing south. Place the Sigil on the portal structure to begin opening the entrance to the Dark Aether. Enter the portal when you're ready.

Note: If you're playing with a group of teammates, have them vote Yes by opening the Map in order to start the teleport countdown to the Dark Aether.

Modern Warfare 3 - Complete Dark Aether Contracts

Once inside the Dark Aether, complete Dark Aether Contracts for a chance to get Elder Sigils from Reward Rifts. Do note that Elder Sigils are not guaranteed drop from Reward Rifts. It will be easier to get Elder Sigils if playing as a 6-man group.

There are three Dark Aether Contracts in fixed locations on the map. Be prepared when taking on Dark Aether Contracts because they are much tougher than the regular contracts found in Urzikstan.

How to Use Elder Sigils

Place on North Side of the Dark Aether Rift

With an Elder Sigil in your inventory, head to the side of the Dark Aether Rift facing north. This should be the side opposite of where you use regular Sigils.

Before placing the Elder Sigil, make sure you're on the correct side of the Dark Aether Rift and that the prompt is asking you to use an Elder Sigil. Otherwise, you might find yourself wasting a Sigil and opening a normal Dark Aether Rift instead.

Elder Sigils are used to enter the Elder Dark Aether - a harder version of the regular Dark Aether map. Inside this area, you will only have a total of 15 minutes to complete 3 difficult contracts if you want to get all the rewards.

The harder version of the Dark Aether gives you a chance to get the following Classified Schematics after completing a contract: Golden Armor Plate, Dog Bone, and Aether Blade.
