The Energy Mine field upgrade is the first field upgrade available, and it is immediately unlocked at Level 1 in Zombies mode. By default, it is automatically equipped in your loadout under the Field Upgrade slot.

Using the Energy Mine deploys an energy orb that pulsates three times, inflicting damage on all nearby enemies within its area of effect. The Energy Mine field upgrade stands out as one of the most effective choices for clearing large hordes of zombies grouped closely together.

Reduce Cooldown by Killing Zombies

Modern Warfare 3 - Reduce Field Upgrade Cooldown by Killing Zombies
The Energy Mine has a cooldown upon each use, but you can recharge it quicker by killing zombies. You'll find the cooldown timer on the bottom right of corner your screen, the circular icon with a green meter right above the weapon and lethal equipment icons.
