Season 2 Release Time and Countdown

Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) went live as of February 7, 2024! Read on to learn everything we know about the release date and time for MW3 Season 2, including all of its featured content for launch and the mid-season update.

Season 2 of Modern Warfare 3 is live as of 9 AM PT on February 7th. PC players on Steam or Battle.Net who have not auto updated MW3 can simply restart their respective game launchers to get the update to appear.

Modern Warfare 3 Season 2 went live as of February 7th at 9 AM PT. It brings with it new Multiplayer maps, game modes, events, bundles, and operators, as well as a large content drop for Warzone.

6 New Multiplayer Maps

Season 2 has introduced 4 new 6v6 maps, 1 new War Map, as well as 2 new map variants for the return of the Vortex game mode.

• Departures: Brand-new medium to large-sized map set in the departures area of the Zakhaev Internation Airport.
• Stash House: A compact map for players who like to dip into chaos and close combat.
• Vista: A medium-sized map for classic urban warfare in a Brazilian Mountaintop resort.
• Das Haus: A remastered small-sized map from Call of Duty: Vanguard designed with tight hallways in an under-construction skyscraper.
• Operation Tin Man: A new War Map for players to test their teamwork to complete and secure their objective.
• Airborne: A new Variant Map that sports pests and growths of alien origin!
• Skidgrow: New Variant Map that displays plant overgrowth on abandoned buildings and cars.

Five Game Modes and Vortex

Five game modes have been added in season 2, with 4 already available on launch while one will drop mid-season along with the Vortex playlist that's coming to multiplayer!

• Team Gun Game: Classic Gun Game with the rules of Team Deathmatch!
• Snipers Only: Brandish your 360 No-Scope skills in this game mode that forces you to use snipers only.
• Hordepoint: Hardpoint but with Zombies that spawn with their Elites when players enter a Hardpoint boundary
• Juggermosh: Kill your enemies and salvage their armor in this game mode with Juggernaut combat only!
• Bounty: Hunt the toughest killer in the enemy team for more points in this twisted Team Deathmatch game mode.
• Vortex: Decay's Realm: Play Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint in otherworldy variant maps!

New Ranked Play Season and Rewards

Season 2 introduces a fresh (and hopefully longer) Ranked Play Season. Earn new camos, emblems, and calling cards as you grind your way to the top of each Ranked Division. Additionally, any rewards earned in S1 Ranked will be available at the start of S2 Ranked!

New Perk: Ninja Vest

Season 2 introduces the Ninja Vest - a brand new Vest Perk that has the potential to change the meta of MW3 Multiplayer and Ranked Play. When equipped, it eliminates your footstep sounds while also granting you immunity to movement reduction effects!

Zombies Content Drop Mid-Season

Modern Warfare Zombies will have their content drop Mid-Season and it will continue with the Dark Aether Story Arc in addition to loads of content and activities that players can participate in.

• New Story Act and Missions: MW3 Zombies continues its story with a brand new act and set of missions for you to complete.
• New Dark Aether Map: A Second Rift has opened up for you to explore. Teleport to a brand new location once the new Zombies update arrives mid-season!
• New Challenges and Schematics: Find and learn the new schematics for Mags of Holding, the Blood Burner Key, and the VR-11 Wonder Weapon.
• Warlord Keres: A new Warlord has appeared in Orlov Military Base. Similar to S1 Reloaded, expect this to replace the current Warlord Dokkaebi during the S2 rotation.

Walking Dead Operators Available in Season 2

A Walking Dead collab dropped in Season 2 with Rick Grimes who can be instantly unlocked with Kate Laswell after purchasing the Season 2 Battle Pass and Michone who is available from the store bundle. BlackCell owners will also receive an Undead BlackCell operator John Doe as an instant BlackCell reward!

4 New Weapons and 7 New Aftermarket Parts

Season 2 introduces four new Base Weapons, the BP50 AR, RAM-9 SMG, SOA Subverter BR, and Soulrender melee sword. Along with these weapons, there are also 7 new aftermarket parts, 6 of which are unlockable through weekly challenges, with only 1 unlockable through the Battlepass!

• JAK Burnout: Battle Pass unlock, compatible with the Holger 26 (Assault Rifle)
• JAK Tyrant 762: Compatible with the Longbow (Sniper Rifle)
• JAK Backsaw: Compatible with the Holger 556 (Assault Rifle)
• JAK Maglift: Compatible with the Haymaker (Shotgun)
• JAK Outlaw-277: Compatible with the Bas-B (Assault Rifle)
• JAK Glassless Optic: Optic Attachment, compatible with several weapons.

New Seasonal Battle Pass and BlackCell Offering

Season 2 offers a new Battle Pass with new rewards and a new BlackCell offering that sports a theme of undead ornated with dripping gold and purple hues. BlackCell owners instantly unlock the Undead BlackCell operator John Doe and can progress the Season 2 Battle Pass from the BlackCell sector and gain access to 20 Battle Token Tier Skips.

Walking Dead, CDL, and C.O.D.E. Packs Available

Season 2 introduced brand new store bundles to the in-game shop. The Walking Dead, a free Black History Month pack, CDL, and COD Endowment all made a return as of the new season launch.

As the season progresses, new store bundles will be released including the Resonance and Aberration Ultra Skin packs, the Dragon Soul bundle for Lunar New Year, and more Zombies and Dune-inspired bundles.

Zombies, Lunar New Year, and Walking Dead Events

Season 2 starts with a bang by introducing multiple events for February to March 2024. Horde Hunt - a Zombies-themed event - will kick off the season from Feb. 7 to March 6.

This will be followed by the Year of the Dragon Lunar New Year celebration, the Cryptid Bootcamp event, as well as the Season highlight - Walking Dead: Fear the Living collaboration event.

New Prestige Challenges and Rewards

The multi-seasonal Prestige system continues in Season 2, with 200 more levels and four additional Prestige to be unlocked. In Season 2, the level cap will be raised to 450 and an additional reward becomes available.

For each Prestige Rank, an exclusive set of Tiered challenges is also unlocked, completing these challenges grants you Calling Cards in both Multiplayer and Zombies.

Fortune's Keep and Warzone Ranked Returns

Season 2 is a huge update for Warzone. Fortune's Keep finally makes its return and Warzone also gets its own Ranked Play mode with rewards unique from Multiplayer Ranked.

Additionally, Fortune's Keep Resurgence will also get a tie-in with MW3 Zombies, featuring new hazards, contracts, and weapons for you to find on the island.
