How to Get Collateral Kills

Collateral Kills or collats require you to kill 2 or more enemies with a single bullet in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (MW3). Read on to learn more about what Collateral Kills are and how to get them in-game.

What are Collateral Kills?

Killing 2 or More Enemies with 1 Bullet

Collateral Kills or collats (as they are usually referred to) are multi-kills using only one bullet. You will need to kill 2 or more enemies using one bullet to register a collateral kill for a related challenge in MW3.

How to Get Collateral Kills

Use the KATT-AMR Sniper Rifle

Right off the bat, you will already have a great sniper rifle to use for collaterals in the KATT-AMR via the Counter-Invasion loadout. Boasting one of the highest damage ranges among all the snipers in the game, this nifty bolt-action can get the job done, easily.

Since these kills usually require a considerable amount of stopping power to pull off, it is recommended that you use one of the many high-damage sniper rifles in-game if you don't want to use the KATT-AMR like the MCPR-300, Victus XMR, or FJX Imperium.

Swap Out Optics for Mid-Range Combat

Since default sniper optics tend to have slow ADS speeds, you can swap them out for mid-ranged scopes that have a max of 2.5x magnification. At level 25, you can even get the easy-to-unlock INTLAS CAS-14 via Armory Unlocks.

Go for Spawn Peeks in Round-Based Game Modes

One tried and true method since the original MW2 came out in 2009 is spawn peeking during round start in round-based game modes like Search and Destroy. While this requires quite a bit of map knowledge, it can be one of the easiest way to get a collateral kill in MW3.

Play Domination for Predictable Enemy Spawns

Since you'll be playing using a sniper rifle, it is best to queue up for game modes like Domination as it will be easier to figure out enemy spawn rotations when objectives are involved. Play map chokepoints and hold for enemy pushes in order to fish out a collateral when enemies bunch up.

Cannot Be Farmed in Private Lobbies

As with all challenge-related kills, collateral kills cannot be farmed or earned in Private Lobbies. These kills will only count if done in public matchmaking lobbies in MW3 Multiplayer.
