The Zombie squad size is a max of 6 players in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (MW3). Learn the max squad size, how to join other squads, total number of players in Zombies, and if you should play Zombies solo or co-op.

There is a maximum of up to 6 members in a squad in Zombies. You start off as a squad of 3, then other squads participating in your game can meet up with your squad and up to 3 new members can join your combined squad.
A squad of 6 can help you take on difficult AI enemies, like Mercenary Strongholds. Seeing as there are a lot of zombies, including the special ones, it's better to team up with other squads to increase the chances of surviving and completing missions!
How to Join Other Squads
Hold D-Pad Up or Alt When Near Other Players
When near other squads, press and hold the D-pad Up button on controller or the Alt key on keyboard to bring up a command wheel. On the right of the command wheel, there's options to Invite nearby players or Request to Join nearby players.
How Many Total Players in Zombies?
24 Players Total
There is a maximum of 24 players in a game of zombies. With each of the 8 starting squads having a maximum of 3 members. Players can exfil from the match at any point, as an individual or as a group of players regardless of squad.
Should You Play Zombies Solo or Co-op?
Co-op With a Squad is Ideal
Zombies is preferably played cooperatively with a squad. Some hard Zombies missions can be played more efficiently if you can communicate with your squadmates.
Even if you play solo, you will still be placed in a squad of 3 during matchmaking. While this is the norm, it is not a guarantee, as we've been placed in games as a solo squad member. This was most likely due to playing around the time of a relatively low player count.
