Phillip Graves, the Shadow Company leader who betrayed TF-141, is alive and returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3 2023). Read on for an explanation on why Graves is alive, and who exactly Phillip Graves is.
It was revealed in Season 5 of Warzone that Phillip Graves was still alive. In the opening cutscene for Season 5, he mentions that he wasn't in the tank that Soap had destroyed back in Modern Warfare 2.
As the final objective in the Ghost Team mission from MW2, Soap destroyed a tank that presumably had Phillip Graves in it. However, it is an unspoken rule by fans of the series that if there is no body, then the character in question is probably still alive.
Suspicions were confirmed when Graves was revealed to be alive in Season 5 of Warzone. His reasons for having survived weren't expanded upon, as he only gave a brief and unsatisfactory explanation: "I wasn't in that tank."
Phillip Graves is the CEO and leader of Shadow Company, a private military company. Specializing in global risk management as well as military deployment, Shadow Company frequently worked with General Shepherd.
Originally introduced as one of Modern Warfare 2's protagonists, he later turned his back on the Task Force 141 unit in the MW2 mission Alone, relieving them of their duties under orders from Shepherd.
Phillip Graves returns in Modern Warfare 3 to assist Farah and Alex of the Urzikstan Liberation Force in combating the Konni Group, a Russian ultranationalist military company that is developing chemical weapons.
Warren Kole voices Philip Graves in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3 2023), reprising his role from the previous installment Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Call of Duty Warzone.
