Stay Close to the ACV
Staying close to the ACV is the best way to make sure that it won't get destroyed. Zombies will be spawning in all directions, and it's easy for them to go unnoticed, which can lead to the destruction of the ACV.
You can climb on top of the ACV and shoot from there. This is an effective tactic; however, keep in mind that you won't be able to pick up ammo drops, so you'll have to periodically get down to do so.
Anticipate Zombie Spawns
The most dangerous moments of this contract are when the ACV extracts Aether orbs, since numerous zombies will spawn. The best way to approach this is to know where the zombies will spawn and kill them as soon as they do.
The zombies during the orb extractions will always spawn in front of the ACV. Use this knowledge to throw any explosives in advance to get them in a single go.
Use Decoy Grenade
If things get out of hand, the best way to keep the zombies away from the ACV is to use a Decoy Grenade. This will temporarily catch their attention and leave the ACV alone, giving you time to deal with them.
Note that Decoy Grenades won't work on Special Zombies, so it's best to prioritize them in these situations.
